Adventure is waiting just outside your front door!

Head to your local park, garden or woodland and see what treasures your little explorer can find.

Talk about colours, textures and sounds as you explore together.

Week 2 – Magic Cornflour Gloop 🫧

Who doesn’t love a little messy play?

This week’s activity is Cornflour Gloop - a fascinating mixture that’s both a liquid and a solid!

You’ll need:
🤍 2 cups cornflour
💧 1 cup water
🎨 Optional food colouring

Mix together and enjoy exploring!

Learning through play:
🖐️ Strengthens hand muscles
🧠 Encourages curiosity and scientific thinking
💬 Introduces new vocabulary such as “sticky”, “runny” and “smooth”
😊 A brilliant calming sensory activity

Top tip: Take it outside for easy clean up!

Week 1 – Rainbow Rice Sensory Play 🌈

Looking for a simple, low-cost activity to keep your little explorer busy this week?

Why not make your own Rainbow Rice!

All you need is:
💙 Rice
💛 Food colouring
❤️ A splash of white vinegar (or hand sanitiser)
💚 A container or tray
🩷 Spoons, cups and small toys to explore

Simply mix the rice with a few drops of food colouring and a splash of vinegar, spread it out to dry, and it’s ready for hours of sensory fun!

Why is it great?
✨ Encourages imaginative play
✨ Develops fine motor skills
✨ Builds language as children describe colours and textures
✨ Supports early maths through scooping, pouring and filling
