πŸ“Έβœ¨ Exploring Our Sense of Self βœ¨πŸ“Έ

Our Little Explorers have been having lots of fun taking selfies and looking at photographs of themselves as they explore their growing sense of self and identity.

For children aged 2–3 years, developing a sense of self is an important part of their emotional and social development. Recognising themselves in photographs and mirrors helps them understand who they are as unique individuals, build confidence, develop self-awareness, and strengthen their sense of belonging within their family, nursery, and wider community.

Through playful experiences like taking selfies, children begin to notice their own features, express their preferences, and celebrate what makes them special. These early experiences lay the foundations for positive self-esteem and healthy relationships as they grow.

We loved seeing our Little Explorers’ smiles, expressions, and personalities shine through! πŸ’›πŸŒŸ

This parcel got left outside nursery on Friday, can anyone help us find the owner please.

We all love a good Dunelm order and I’m sure the owner has been looking forward to its arrival πŸ’š

Please share this post and drop us a message if you have any information or if you are the owner, Bethany Pell, and we can arrange collection.

Thank you in advance πŸ’šπŸ’š

A tough result for our ladies team at home to Whitley Hall this evening, losing by 15 runs, but what a great game of cricket it was πŸ‘πŸ

The effort and determination from the whole team was brilliant from start to finish, with everyone battling hard right until the final ball. Huge credit to Whitley Hall for a competitive match played in a great spirit πŸ’ͺ

Batting highlights:
🏏 Louise B – 19 runs Sponsored by Little Explorers Community Nursery
🏏 Maddie A – 12 runs

With the ball:
🎯 1 wicket each for Louise B and Sophie A Sponsored P1 Drive School

Lots of positives to take from the performance β€” keep going ladies! πŸ”΅πŸŸ‘

✨ Our Curiosity Table ✨

Our Curiosity Table celebrates everything our Mini Explorers have been getting up to recently, bringing together exciting sensory experiences that encourage children to be curious, investigate, and discover through play. πŸŒΏπŸ”πŸͺ΅

The children have loved exploring using all of their senses β€” touching different textures, discovering new smells, listening to sounds, observing colours and patterns, and engaging in hands-on learning experiences that spark their imagination and curiosity. πŸ‘€βœ‹πŸ‘‚πŸ‘ƒπŸ’

Sensory play is such an important part of early learning, helping children to explore the world around them while building confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fun and meaningful way. πŸ’š

So what does our curriculum look like in our Mighty Explorers room for our 3-4 year olds?🩡

At Little Explorers Community Nursery, we recognise that children at this stage are becoming increasingly independent, curious, and eager to explore the world around them. Our new curriculum has been carefully designed to inspire confidence, creativity, resilience, and a love of learning as children prepare for their next steps. 🌟

In Mighty Explorers, we know children learn best through meaningful experiences, play, positive relationships, and opportunities to investigate, question, and discover. Our environment and experiences encourage children to become independent learners while continuing to feel safe, valued, and supported.

Through our curriculum, we support our children to become:

✨ Confident β€” by encouraging independence, celebrating achievements, and helping children believe in themselves and their abilities.

✨ Adventurous β€” through forest sessions, outdoor learning, investigations, problem-solving experiences, and opportunities to take safe risks and explore new challenges.

✨ Creative β€” by inspiring imagination through storytelling, role play, music, movement, art, construction, and open-ended learning opportunities.

✨ Communicators β€” through conversations, stories, group activities, early literacy experiences, and meaningful interactions that support language, listening, and communication skills.

✨ Kind β€” by modelling positive relationships, encouraging teamwork and empathy, and helping children understand emotions, friendships, and respect for others.

✨ Proud of Their Sense of Self β€” by valuing every child as an individual, celebrating family cultures and achievements, and encouraging children to express themselves with confidence and pride.

Our Mighty Explorers environment has been thoughtfully designed to provide exciting, stimulating, and engaging spaces where children can explore, challenge themselves, and continue developing the skills they need for school and beyond. πŸ’›

So, what does our curriculum look like in our Little Explorers Room for our 2–3 year olds? πŸ’š

In Little Explorers, our curriculum is built around curiosity, confidence, independence, and learning through play. We know children aged 2–3 learn best when they feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore the world around them. 🌿

We support our children to become:

✨ Confident β€” by encouraging independence, building strong relationships, and celebrating every achievement as children begin to develop their own personalities and interests.

✨ Adventurous β€” through hands-on experiences, outdoor exploration, forest sessions, messy play, and opportunities to investigate and problem-solve in meaningful ways.

✨ Creative β€” by providing open-ended activities that inspire imagination through role play, music, movement, art, construction, and sensory experiences.

✨ Communicators β€” through stories, songs, conversations, small group experiences, and quality interactions that help develop language, listening, and social skills.

✨ Kind β€” by modelling positive relationships, supporting turn-taking and sharing, and helping children begin to understand emotions, friendships, and empathy.

✨ Proud of Their Sense of Self β€” by valuing every child as an individual, celebrating family backgrounds and cultures, and encouraging children to express themselves with confidence.

Our Little Explorers environment is thoughtfully designed to provide exciting, engaging, and nurturing spaces where children can play, discover, and grow in confidence as they continue their early learning journey. πŸ’š
