πΈβ¨ Exploring Our Sense of Self β¨πΈ
Our Little Explorers have been having lots of fun taking selfies and looking at photographs of themselves as they explore their growing sense of self and identity.
For children aged 2β3 years, developing a sense of self is an important part of their emotional and social development. Recognising themselves in photographs and mirrors helps them understand who they are as unique individuals, build confidence, develop self-awareness, and strengthen their sense of belonging within their family, nursery, and wider community.
Through playful experiences like taking selfies, children begin to notice their own features, express their preferences, and celebrate what makes them special. These early experiences lay the foundations for positive self-esteem and healthy relationships as they grow.
We loved seeing our Little Explorersβ smiles, expressions, and personalities shine through! ππ

β¨ Our Curiosity Table β¨
Our Curiosity Table celebrates everything our Mini Explorers have been getting up to recently, bringing together exciting sensory experiences that encourage children to be curious, investigate, and discover through play. πΏππͺ΅
The children have loved exploring using all of their senses β touching different textures, discovering new smells, listening to sounds, observing colours and patterns, and engaging in hands-on learning experiences that spark their imagination and curiosity. πβπππ
Sensory play is such an important part of early learning, helping children to explore the world around them while building confidence, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fun and meaningful way. π

So what does our curriculum look like in our Mighty Explorers room for our 3-4 year olds?π©΅
At Little Explorers Community Nursery, we recognise that children at this stage are becoming increasingly independent, curious, and eager to explore the world around them. Our new curriculum has been carefully designed to inspire confidence, creativity, resilience, and a love of learning as children prepare for their next steps. π
In Mighty Explorers, we know children learn best through meaningful experiences, play, positive relationships, and opportunities to investigate, question, and discover. Our environment and experiences encourage children to become independent learners while continuing to feel safe, valued, and supported.
Through our curriculum, we support our children to become:
β¨ Confident β by encouraging independence, celebrating achievements, and helping children believe in themselves and their abilities.
β¨ Adventurous β through forest sessions, outdoor learning, investigations, problem-solving experiences, and opportunities to take safe risks and explore new challenges.
β¨ Creative β by inspiring imagination through storytelling, role play, music, movement, art, construction, and open-ended learning opportunities.
β¨ Communicators β through conversations, stories, group activities, early literacy experiences, and meaningful interactions that support language, listening, and communication skills.
β¨ Kind β by modelling positive relationships, encouraging teamwork and empathy, and helping children understand emotions, friendships, and respect for others.
β¨ Proud of Their Sense of Self β by valuing every child as an individual, celebrating family cultures and achievements, and encouraging children to express themselves with confidence and pride.
Our Mighty Explorers environment has been thoughtfully designed to provide exciting, stimulating, and engaging spaces where children can explore, challenge themselves, and continue developing the skills they need for school and beyond. π
