Hi everyone, as you may be aware, last week saw Sheree & Julie's last fundraising activities for the Friends, having been active members for the last 11 years. Whilst you will still see them around the school, their days of organising fayres, discos, pumpkin competitions, cake sales and ice cream Fridays, sorting out the shed, packing pre-loved uniform, and many other things, have come to an end as their children have now left the school.

This means that a new team of Friends will need to form in September to continue putting on fun events for the children which result in the fundraising that the school needs.

We thought we would take a look to see how much the Friends had raised over the last 11 years and were amazed to see it totted up to £31,100 🤩 Along with generous cash donations from West Suffolk Council, Suffolk County Council, Centre Parcs, The Royal George, Tesco Stronger Starts, parents and benefactors that total £11,484, we have had £42,584 to spend on resources for the school. Every single penny raised is spent on resources for the school.

This money has been spent on many playground improvements - including the blue and green base to cover the mud around the play equipment and the most recent Hazel Climber, 3 picnic benches, 18 laptops (although these need replacing now due to age!), 4 x interactive whiteboards, those blinds in the hall (it was dazzling in there before), the bike rack in the playground, the sandpit along with the sand and its cover, as well as some smaller items needed in the classrooms. We have also funded Y6 leavers' hoodies, and their leavers' gifts of a scientific calculator and geometry set every year, chocolates for all the children every Easter and Christmas, and iced treats and drinks on Sports Day.

The money raised from the recent Summer Fayre and Disco will be added to the contribution of £500 from Tesco Stronger Starts to improve the play equipment.

The Friends thank every single person who has been part of the team over the last 11 years working hard to plan, organise and resource all that is needed to run the many events we have held. We are grateful to everyone who has donated items to tombolas, classboxes, raffles, cakes for cake sales and refreshment stalls, coins for class coin challenges (a pre-COVID thing when people had cash!), and their time to help run events. And of course, thank you to everyone who has attended and supported our events which has meant we have been able to raise such a fantastic amount for the children at our school.

Wishing you all a fabulous Summer holiday ☀️

For all parents and carers with year 6 leavers today - such an emotional day 😥💔Bring along the tissues for the leavers' assembly this afternoon.

We hope our Y6 pupils have the most amazing last day at primary school and we wish them all the best for September when they start high school as Y7 - good luck 🥰

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL by Mark Bird

Last six hours of primary school
Goodbye is getting near
The sums and sentences all done
The full stop day is here

Last five hours of primary school
Where everything's before
The aims and games and crazes
no one’s crazy for no more

Last four hours of primary school
Surrounded by a class
Who'll scatter soon and not return
when summer’s days have passed

Last three hours of primary school
One final lunchtime play
Instead of chasing friends we try
to chase and catch the day

Last two hours of primary school
The clock hands blur and skid
Signing shirts, remembering
the coolest things we did

Last one hour of primary school
With Sir who understood
And helped me see I could achieve
‘cos he believed I could

Last half hour of primary school
The assembly we all dread
We can not sing - us Year Six kings
The crown slips from our heads

Last ever second of primary school
The full stop rings in our ears
But a thousand chapters left to write
We must vacate our childhood site
For time moves on and time is right -
To leave our wonder years

We hope all the children enjoyed the DISCO this evening, whilst it was very hot it was a great evening to celebrate the start to the final week of the summer term. Miss Hunter joined us for the evening and awarded the Y6 pupils their leavers' wristbands.

This evening we raised £100 for the school.

There will be no ice cream Friday next Friday as it is the Y6 leavers' assembly. Ice cream sales this term has raised £158.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last ten years - we really appreciate all the help and donations that has made it possible to fund great things for the children at our school. Details of how much we have raised this year will be circulated over the next few weeks.
