Cooking provides health, social and educational benefits too. At Cook Stars South Hertsmere our aim is that children have the opportunity to learn to cook, so that they can make good food choices and look forward to a healthier future.

Children work both independently and in teams at our sessions, which can build their confidence and communication skills. The atmosphere is fun, challenging and inspiring.

Cooking combines other elements of learning such as science, literacy, maths, geography and languages.

Our Cook Stars have so much fun they often don't even realise they're learning!

I get asked a lot - can you cater for children with allergies? The answer is we will do everything we can at Cook Stars to include everyone where possible.

We take a lot of steps to ensure all children attending our classes are kept safe:

➡️ When you book in with us, you'll be asked about any food allergies / intolerances and dietary requirements that we need to be aware of.

➡️ If you indicate yes - we will send you a separate form for completion that gives us a better understanding. We aim to work with parents to make our classes inclusive and adapt recipes where possible.

➡️ Our weekly newsletter let's you know what recipes are coming the following week and shows you any allergens. You can discuss any concerns with us.

➡️ At class we have a folder listing all the recipes along with all allergens - you are welcome to look at this at any time.

➡️ At the end of class, your child is given a recipe card with shows you the nutritional information and also advises you of any allergen.

➡️ We keep in close contact with you week on week - you are welcome to discuss any concerns with us.

Minis classes (age 2-5 years old)

If you're wondering whether your toddler will sit still, concentrate or behave perfectly... please don't worry! They're toddlers, and we expect them to act like toddlers. 😊

Our Minis classes are relaxed, welcoming and completely pressure-free. Children join in at their own pace, with plenty to keep them engaged, while you stay by their side to encourage and support them. We celebrate every little achievement, whether that's mixing, pouring, tasting or simply giving something new a go.

You're also very welcome to bring along a younger sibling or baby.

Have you seen the slogan on our logo? It's 'Making Cooking Child's Play!' and there is a good reason behind it!

At Cook Stars we believe the secret to fun, enjoyable learning is though 'play' so our classes are friendly, relaxed and fun. Children unwittingly learn a huge range of skills whilst they are 'playing' at our classes.

We keep our children's cooking class sizes small to tailor our support and encourage individuals, whilst we cook up a wide range of delicious dishes.
