From young children to retired adults, whether you're learning just for fun or want to progress to grades, Susan will guide you through your musical journey with encouragement and reassurance all the way. She began teaching online in March 2020, and has a multi-camera and audio interface set-up in place for high-quality online lessons. She also teaches in-person lessons at her home in Barlaston, Staffordshire. Susan began taking piano lessons at the age of 7 and went on to pass all ABRSM piano exams through to Grade 8. She has 2 music degrees: a Bachelor of Music Hons 2:1 from Cardiff University and an MA in Musicology from City University, London. Susan has successfully guided numerous students through preparations for piano, singing and music theory exam grades with ABRSM & Trinity with 100% pass rate success, although she is equally happy teaching those who do not wish to take exams and just want to learn for fun. She teaches music theory from beginners up to Grade 8/A-level standard, which can be taught separately, or as part of a piano/singing lesson.
**NEW** Susan now also offers asynchronous piano lessons, a more flexible, online way of learning. You buy blocks of video lessons taught by Susan which will be sent to you; you can then record audio or video files of yourself in response to send to Susan, and then a video/text dialogue continues so you can learn at times that are convenient for you. Susan is always there to support and answer your questions, all included in the price you pay for each block of lessons. This offers a more flexible approach for those who are unable to commit to regular weekly lessons. She recognises and encourages all the benefits that come from an appreciation and understanding of music including focus, discipline and confidence, and her approach is friendly, patient and supportive.
