Hook Lesson Alert!

In Yew Class pupils launched their persuasive writing unit with an exciting pirate-themed challenge! After discovering that a stubborn pirate captain had confiscated their classroom chairs, the children worked together to write and present persuasive arguments to win them back.

Using persuasive language, clear reasoning and thoughtful questioning, the pupils demonstrated fantastic writing, speaking and listening skills, teamwork and creativity. What a memorable start to their persuasive writing journey!

Year 2 had a fantastic time getting creative with their Shoebox Habitats! In groups, the children explored different animal habitats and designed their own environments to suit specific animals.

There was brilliant teamwork, creativity and collaboration as they shared ideas and brought their habitats to life through arts and crafts. Well done, Year 2!

As part of their Science learning, Year 1 enjoyed working collaboratively outdoors to create their very own bird nests! The children carefully selected natural materials such as twigs, leaves and grass while thinking about how birds build strong and safe nests to protect their young. A fantastic hands-on learning experience with lots of creativity and teamwork!

Year 4 had an amazing time during their Virtual Reality workshop, travelling back in time to explore the Ancient Mayan way of life! Using VR headsets, the children visited historic landmarks, explored maps and experienced what life was like in Mesoamerica — all without leaving the classroom! The immersive experience brought history to life and made learning both exciting and memorable. Fun was had by all!

Year 5 have had a fantastic half term filled with exciting experiences and learning beyond the classroom! Year 1 had a fantastic time during their hands-on maths lesson exploring measurement and weight! The children used balance scales to compare classroom objects, make predictions and investigate which items were heavier or lighter. They worked brilliantly together while using key maths vocabulary such as heavier than, lighter than and balanced. Great teamwork and learning all around!

Year 4 are gearing up for an exciting Times Tables Rock Stars “Battle of the Bands”

From 07:05 on 23rd May 2026 to 20:05 on 31st May 2026, pupils will compete in their class groups to answer as many times table questions correctly as possible.

Children can play in any game mode, with every correct answer counting towards their class total. The winning group will be the one with the highest number of correct answers per player, so every game makes a difference!

Let’s see which band will rock their way to victory!

Year 2 had an amazing time taking part in the Zoolab Workshop as part of their ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’ Science unit this week! The children had the opportunity to explore and observe a variety of small animals, including slithery snakes and slimy snails. They showed fantastic curiosity and bravery by having a go at touching and even carrying some of the animals themselves! A wonderful hands-on experience that brought their learning to life!
