Come join us at Northern Ireland’s first purpose built Forest Pre-School opening soon for children aged 2 years 10 months - 4 years in the beautiful natural woodland of Clandeboye Estate.

Forest School is a child-centred approach to learning that nurtures holistic development through meaningful experiences in nature. Designed for Early Years children, it encourages curiosity, exploration, and managed risk-taking beyond the traditional classroom.

By fostering a strong connection with the natural world, Forest School helps children develop confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of how to live alongside nature. Sessions support social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth while creating confident, learners filled with curiosity.

We have been very busy transforming our new Forest area into something truly unique and amazing.

Here’s what a typical day may look like-

🐞 9am Arrival & welcome- children settle in using the self register and gather at the welcome circle to discuss any exciting news they may have to tell and the plans for the day ahead.

🐛 Forest exploration- free play with child initiated activities including exploring, practical skills, creative play, and physical challenge.

🦢 Campfire snack- may include toast, pancakes, muffins, Clandeboye yoghurt & fruit

🌳 Story and rhymes around the campfire.

🕷️ Focused Activities- eg fire lighting, cutting firewood, tool use, nature craft.

🔥 Packed lunch

🌺 Adventure walk through the wonderful Clandeboye woods/ games

🏡 Tidy up, Goodbye circle where children express what they’ve learned and what they have enjoyed most that day. Prepare for home.
