💚🖤Y5 Science Experimenting 💚🖤

After learning all about how water is cleaned, P5 CT carried out an experiment of their own. They set up miniature filtration systems and were astounded at how clean the filthy water came out.

💚🖤 Time to Code 💚🖤

Our Digital Leaders and P5CT have begun the "Time to Code" program, designed to introduce Key Stage 2 pupils to the exciting world of coding. Over six weeks, they will work alongside volunteer facilitator Ryan Fletcher, developing their skills and exploring the possibilities of Scratch. The program will focus on building essential digital skills, teamwork, problem-solving and confidence, while helping the children develop valuable skills for an increasingly digital future.

During the program P5 and our Digital Leaders will complete a range of coding challenges, learning how to use sprites, backgrounds and block-based coding to create their own interactive games and fun audiobook-style projects.

P4 visited NI War Memorial Museum to find out about World War 2 in Northern Ireland. They found out about Air Raid Precautions, dress up in WW2 uniforms as well as explore the museum to complete a quiz.

🌍 Celebrating European Day of Languages at St Malachy’s! 🇪🇺

Our school was filled with colour and excitement as children dressed in a variety of outfits, including the colours of different countries, and took part in a range of fun activities throughout the day. From exploring different languages to learning about cultures from around the world, our pupils enjoyed celebrating the diversity that makes our community so special.

A wonderful day of learning, sharing and celebrating together! 🌎❤️

🌟 Amazing News! 🌟

A huge congratulations to Holly on becoming a Double Champion 🥇🥇 at the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Finals in Birmingham while representing Northern Ireland!

As one of the youngest competitors in her age group, Holly gave fantastic performances all weekend and made us all so proud with her hard work and determination.

💚🖤 Can You Help? 💚🖤

We’re looking to revamp our playground and would love as many helping hands as possible to help us raise the funds to make this happen! 🌳🎨⚽

You don’t need to be a current parent to get involved. Past parents, grandparents, family members, friends of St Malachy’s and anyone willing to lend a hand are very welcome.

Come along to our PTA meeting on Monday 28th September at 3.15pm and help us create an even better outdoor space for our children. 💚

💚🖤 P3KF have been enjoying lots of learning across the curriculum. 💚🖤

In Literacy, they have been working on identifying and listing nouns that link to our classroom.

In Numeracy, we have been working hard on our problem solving skills and place value knowledge. We have been introduced to the 100 square!

In ICT, we have been exploring digital art and design software such as Just2Easy. We have even used the iPads to create some place value art!

We had a special visit from Alison (Nurture in Five) who led an amazing, relaxing session that showed us how to reset and relax our minds, to get ready for new learning.

What a great start to our year! 🥳⭐️
