Happy October everyone, tutoring my new pupils starts today and I can't wait!
I'm currently full up but keep an eye on my page for updates and words of wisdom! 😉
Today's advice is allow your children time to settle into their new class. September is a difficult month for everyone in school as teachers have to be extra strict to establish boundaries. Things should get better from now on but any little continuing wrinkles should be chatted about at the first parent interviews which usually happen at the end of October.
Remember, a happy child will learn. At this time of year that is the most important factor to consider.

I've been overwhelmed by the response to my new venture and delighted to have pupils on the horizon! Thank you for all the really encouraging and supportive comments. I'm looking forward to getting started, not least because it means I get to go stationery shopping! Please continue to share my posts everyone so any 7 to 17 year old struggling with literacy gets the help they need.

Thank you for all the likes, follows and shares! Up and running now and I thought it was time I did a wee bio for anyone who doesn't really know me.
My name is Karen Stinson and I live in the Cullybackey area near Ballymena but am willing to travel wherever the need is.
I taught for 26 years: 1 in Greenisland, 1 in Ballymoney, 9 in the special education sector in Moira, 3 in Cullybackey and the last 13 in Kilrea where I was teaching Principal. I absolutely loved my job but retired young to nurse my husband through terminal illness.
I'm ready now to use the skills and knowledge I've acquired over the years to help children and young people struggling with literacy, my favourite subject to teach!

Does your child or young adult struggle with literacy? Have difficulty with other subjects in school because of this? Get stressed over homework, study or revision? Lost interest and confidence in learning?
I can help refresh skills, renew interest and confidence and re-enthuse your child or young adult about learning.
I have 26 years of teaching experience and have a fun, relaxed and interesting approach. Each programme is based entirely on the specific needs and experiences of the individual which will be established through a free initial get together, discussion with parents/carers and basic assessment. Prices for sessions start from £20 per hour depending on location.
