Over 150 more visits to big school...
Children who attend Halton Preschool on average have had over 150 visits to 'Big School' before they even start in Reception. We access the main school hall, library, playgrounds and field as well as visiting other classrooms and offices to see children and staff.
Why does this matter?
It means that our children have been into a new bigger environment, met new people, felt what it is like to walk through the corridors, met most of the main school staff (and know some of their names), have been to an assembly to celebrate their learning, and have seen the older children who inspire them.
This term, as we plan our transitions, the children have already met all of their teachers for next year, been in their new environment, and are familiar with some of the routines and resources.
How do you feel when you go somewhere new? Would you be more confident already knowing people and where you are going?
Our next step is for children to visit with their parents and for staff to have hand over meetings to share everything we know about our children and how to help them thrive. โค๏ธ
Meanwhile, we are building our next class for 2016-2027 and will be making new friends in preschool too.
Keep following for more about transitions and our preschool.
