Today is the day! Brill School Games is here!!!
Who will be victorious? Chickwell champs again? Or will it be Bernwode or Rushbed?
Good luck and have fun!
A selection of children from Brill School competed in the district athletics event at Stoke Mandeville on Monday 2nd July. All the pupils represented the school brilliantly and competed with enthusiasm. It was a fantastic event, enjoyed by all and we are very proud to announce that Brill School came 1st and won the competition. Well done to our fantastic pupils and hugely supportive staff and parent body. We are proud of you all!

Some Year 4 pupils entered a dance competition on Saturday 30th June in Aylesbury, Darcey Bussell (a retired Royal Ballet principle dancer and ex Strictly come dancing judge) judged the competition. Brill pupils competed against other Buckinghamshire schools- including the secondary grammar schools. It was a fantastic event and our pupils made us all very proud, they also had the pleasure of taking away the winning medal and a photo with Darcey Bussell herself!
Brill school got through the first round of the โWhizz Fizzโ competition and will now compete in a dance competition in June, judged by Dame Darcey Bussell!

School opening: 13.12.17
Dear Parents
I have assessed the roads in Brill today, and although still quite icy, with the rain and slightly warmer temperatures expected overnight, we are anticipating the access to school will be good enough by morning so we will re-open tomorrow at the normal time of 8:40am.
We are however taking some precautionary measures as follows -
There will be no Breakfast Club (or Energykidz After School Club) and parents are not to drive up The Firs under any circumstances or try to park anywhere near the School.
Can all children please wear appropriate footwear for walking through any remaining snow to and from school (bringing school shoes to change in to). Children arriving by bus will be dropped off at The Pointer and then walked across the field to School by a member of staff.
Parents arriving by car are asked to park in the village and walk children across the field to School.
Any parents attending the Spanish Nativity in the afternoon are also asked to park in the village and walk across to School.
Preschool will also re-open, and the same access arrangements apply. No early start, please arrive at 9am for Preschool.
Thank you for your patience and understanding over the last couple of days and we look forward to seeing the children back in school tomorrow.
Regards,
Mrs Louise White
Headteacher
SCHOOL CLOSURE 12.12.2017
I very much regret to inform you that the school will be closed again tomorrow, Tuesday 12th December.
This is solely due to the extremely hazardous driving conditions on The Firs and the access to school.
With overnight freezing temperatures forecast, the roads will become even more unsafe. The decision to close is never an easy decision but safety of our families and staff is always paramount.
Please see the letter sent via email for the rationale behind this disappointing and much debated decision.
I am sorry for the inconvenience and disruption that I know this will cause.
The weather forecasts for Tuesday, late evening onward, show warmer conditions and rain. This makes me very hopeful that we will be able to open on Wednesday and this will be confirmed by email tomorrow.
Once again, my apologies.
Mrs White, Head Teacher.
NB This includes Windmill Pre-School
School closure:
Dear Parents,
Unfortunately, due to the heavy snowfall overnight and the forecast showing further snow and freezing roads we have decided to close Brill Primary School on Monday 11th December so that we can ensure the safety of both pupils and staff.
We are making this decision early so that parents have as much time as possible to make alternative childcare arrangements where possible.
We regret the need to close the school and hope that you all can appreciate that we have made this decision on safety grounds. We hope to be open on Tuesday and will confirm this later on Monday.
Yours sincerely, Louise White Head Teacher

This evening Brill School Netball squad played in the first festival of the year @ Waddesdon School!
We took 3 teams this year, 2 strong year 6 teams and a impressive year 5 team. All 3 teams did incredibly well. Coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their respective groups.
The team of Billy, Lara, Abi, Harry and Milla made it to the final matches, battling hard and playing an incredibly high level of netball. So good in fact the Waddeson Secondary teachers thought we'd beat their year 7 and 8 teams!!!! Overall we finished in an amazing 2nd place. Qualifying for the level 2 games at Stoke Mandeville in the summer (again ๐)!
Huge well done to all 3 squads.
Special thanks to Mrs Keegan, who has coached the squad to such a high standard. Thanks also to Mrs Tuffley and Miss Butler who have assisted brilliantly!
Next festival is year 3/4 Badminton!
Reminder:
Jeans for Genes day tomorrow.
Children to come in denim bottom half and school uniform on top.
Please bring a donation for this great cause.
Thanks for your support everyone.
Quick reminder!
This Thursday is the 'Plans for the future' meeting in the school hall, 7:45pm drinks for an 8pm start.
The Leadership Team and Governing Body will share the vision for the school.
It would be great to see many of you there if you can make it.

Congratulations to our Year 5&6 cricket team on a brilliant team performance to finish 2nd at the Stewkley Kwik Cricket Tournament today.
Despite being one player down due to illness, they won all their group matches convincingly, in sizzling heat, to reach what was a closely contested final.
Batsman of the day: James T;
Bowler of the day: Lara M;
Catch of the day: Thomas R.
The team was led by captain Matthew C, ably supported by Jacob K who batted well in the final. Abi O demonstrated great skills out field.

Well done to everyone on a superb all-round effort and with such a strong Y5 performance, things look good for next year.
Huge thank you to team manager and up and coming PE virtuoso Mrs Ellis.

Rain, rain, rain stops play!
Sadly, both yesterdays Year 5/6 rugby tournament @ Chinnor Rugby Club and todays Year 5/6 Rounders festival @ Waddesdon Seconday School were abandoned due to traditionally poor British weather.
Unfortunately, it's unlikely that either will be rescheduled.
The rounders began in glorious sunshine but quickly the weather turned. Both the A and B teams were undefeated at the time. So maybe the staff will lose this years, hotly contested and highly anticipated staff vs year 6 rounders match after half term...

Great all round performance from the year 5/6 tennis squad today @ Aylesbury tennis centre. The team competed against 7 other schools at the level 2 school games. Finishing an incredible 3rd.
We were a team consisting of mainly year 5 pupils too, which makes the achievement even greater!!! What's more we were the only team to draw with the eventual winners!!!
Well done to all, let's win it next year!
