Our Explorers have been embracing the great outdoors with a wonderful nature walk to the canal! πŸŒΏπŸ¦†

As they explored, the children spotted all sorts of wildlife and took in the sights and sounds of nature around them. From watching the animals to noticing the movement of the water and discovering new things along the way, there was so much to see! πŸƒ

Nature walks provide endless opportunities for curiosity, conversation and learning, while also helping children to build confidence and develop a love and respect for the world around them. πŸ’š

A lovely adventure for our little Explorers! 🌱✨

Every Thursday, our Investigators look forward to a very special visit to our local nursing home ❀️

Through shared activities, conversations and stories, the children and residents are building meaningful connections across generations.

From laughter and creativity, to listening and learning from one another, these visits provide wonderful opportunities for everyone involved.

For our children, spending time with older generations helps to develop confidence, communication skills, empathy and a sense of community.

They learn that friendships can be found at any age, while also gaining valuable experiences from the stories, knowledge and life experiences shared by the residents.

These weekly visits are about so much more than the activities we do together β€” they are about creating connections, sharing joy and bringing generations together. πŸ’›

We are so proud of the beautiful relationships our Investigators are building each week! 🌿✨

A morning of big discoveries in our Discoverers Room! ✨🍌🌿

Ever wondered what a typical morning looks like for our curious learners? Today is packed with hands-on exploring, sensory play, and lots of moving! This is what our Discoverers are up to before lunchtime:

πŸ₯£ 1. Little Chefs in Action: We kicked off the morning by making delicious, homemade banana bread! From mashing the bananas to measuring out ingredients, baking is a fantastic way for our children to practice early maths, coordination, and follow instructions.

🍳 2. Role Play Adventures: Over in our kitchen setup, the culinary fun continued! The children loved taking turns playing chef, washing up, and serving "meals" to their friends, building brilliant sharing and communication skills.

πŸͺΆ 3. Nature & Sensory Exploration: We dove into the wonderful world of birds and their habitats! The children explored different textures like feathers, twigs, and moss, sparking their curiosity about the wildlife right outside our windows.

🌱 4. Green Fingers: Our little gardeners checked on the herbs they planted themselves. They loved feeling the leaves, smelling the fresh scents, and learning how a little bit of water and care helps things grow.

🏏 5. Active Mornings: We are having an energetic sports session using bats and different types of balls. It is the perfect way to practice spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, andβ€”most importantlyβ€”have a ton of fun running around!

Every morning here is a brand-new chance to learn, play, and grow togetherπŸ’«πŸŒ»

🌿 Growing Through Nature 🌿

At Little Ferns, exploring nature is so much more than simply spending time outdoors. It is a huge part of our children’s learning, development and everyday experiences. 🌼🐞🌳

From discovering flowers and insects to exploring woodland, collecting natural treasures and simply enjoying the freedom of being outside, our children are encouraged to be curious, ask questions and learn through real experiences.

🌱 Nature helps children to:
✨ Build confidence and independence
πŸ”Ž Develop curiosity and a love of learning
🌿 Understand and care for the world around them
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Develop physical skills through active outdoor play
🧠 Support problem-solving, creativity and critical thinking
πŸ’š Develop a sense of wellbeing, belonging and connection to nature

By making nature part of nursery life, we give children the opportunity to explore, discover, take risks, and learn from the world around them.

These experiences create memories that last far beyond their nursery years and help nurture confident, capable and curious learners. πŸŒπŸ’š

Little hands, big achievements! πŸ“πŸŒπŸ₯€

Our children enjoyed following a simple recipe to create a delicious snack for their friends. From carefully chopping different fruits to pouring and mixing ingredients, they showed fantastic concentration, independence and teamwork.

Preparing food together helps children build the confidence to follow simple recipes, create meals to share with others and take pride in what they have made. Along the way, they develop fine motor skills, practise turn-taking, explore healthy eating and experience the joy of working together towards a shared goal.

We are so proud of our budding little chefs and the confidence, resilience and independence they demonstrated while preparing their healthy snack. πŸ’›πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

🌿 Discoverers Explore the Great Outdoors! πŸ¦†πŸ’¦

Our Discoverers enjoyed a wonderful nature walk, embracing everything the outdoors has to offer. The children loved feeding the ducks, listening to the sounds of nature, and cooling off with a paddle in the stream.

These hands-on experiences encourage curiosity, confidence and a real appreciation for the natural world.

Activities like these support one of our nursery goals: "To be a confident, independent outdoor learner who has the set of skills to make nature your playground." Through exploring, investigating and taking safe risks in nature, our children are developing resilience, independence and a lifelong love of outdoor learning.
