Free School Meals Changes - More Families May Now Qualify – Apply for September 2026

From September 2026, eligibility for Free School Meals is expanding. If your family receives Universal Credit, please check whether you qualify and submit an application, even if your child already receives free meals in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, or has previously been eligible.

Families already receiving Free School Meals should also reapply, as eligibility will be rechecked for the new academic year.

Support for Families Affected by the Venezuela Earthquakes

We are collecting donations of essential supplies to support families affected by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela.

Several of our own school families have close links to the affected communities, with some sadly losing loved ones and friends. They are working with a charity to send much-needed aid directly to those in need.

Please donate only new and sealed items, including:
🍼 Baby bottles and muslins
👶 Nappies (all sizes)
🧴 Hand gel, soap, shampoo, deodorant (no aerosols)
🦷 Toothpaste and toothbrushes
🩹 Gauze and sterilising tablets
❤️ Sanitary towels and tampons

📍 Please drop donations into the Primary school office by next Friday 10th July

Year 7 Transition Days & Transition Evening

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students and their families to The Aylesbury Vale Academy!

📅 Transition Days – Tuesday 7 & Wednesday 8 July

Your child will experience life at the Academy through lessons, assemblies and activities, while meeting their tutor group, teachers and future classmates.

Transition Day reminders:
👉 Please ensure your child wears their current primary school uniform.
👉 They should bring a pencil case and a refillable water bottle.
👉 Complimentary breaktime snacks and lunch will be provided (packed lunches are welcome – please remember we are a nut-free school).

Students should arrive via the rear gates (car park entrance) between 8.15am and 8.25am and will finish at 2.45pm.

📅 Transition Evening – Tuesday 7 July | 5.00pm–6.45pm

Parents and carers are invited to meet the Year 7 Team, hear from Mr Gibson, sample our school food and visit a range of information stalls, including SEND, Admissions and the laptop scheme.

👉 Doors open at 5.00pm for registration. On arrival, please provide your child's surname.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child and helping make the transition to secondary school an exciting and positive experience.

Yellow Heat-Health Alert - The Academy will remain open as normal next week (W/C 6 July 2026)

Students may continue to attend in PE kit, and, where possible, lessons will be moved to cooler areas of the Academy to help keep everyone comfortable. Please ensure your child brings a refillable water bottle, a hat, and has sun cream applied before school.

We will continue to monitor the weather and keep families updated if any further measures are required.
