Years 5&6 did us proud at the Guildhall last night with their production of 'Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits'. All their hard work, and ours, paid off with two wonderful performances, with special mention to the children who took on extra roles and jobs at the last minute when other people couldn't make it. We are so excited to announce that we have been awarded Platinum in our OPAL accreditation this week for our play. This puts us in the top 1% of schools for play in the country, recognising the incredible play opportunities that our children have and the range of experiences that they get to take part in.

The children said, "Playtime is so fun now - we have so many things to do and you can never be bored!"

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped create our magical playtimes - from everyone who has donated, to the people who have helped improve the site to the play team themselves who enable the magic to happen to the children who come up with wonderful ideas to make play come alive!

We can't wait to see what ideas they dream up for September! Keep dreaming big everyone!

What an incredible DT Day for our Otters, Badgers and Foxes classes! 🏛️✨

Our budding architects stepped back in time to Ancient Greece as they explored the features of Greek temples. After researching famous temples and identifying their key characteristics, the children designed their own detailed blueprints before putting their engineering skills to the test!

Using only spaghetti, marshmallows and masking tape, they worked collaboratively to build their own impressive temple structures. There was fantastic teamwork, creativity and problem-solving on display throughout the day, with children adapting their designs and showing great resilience when faced with building challenges.

We were so impressed by the imaginative ideas, careful planning and determination shown by everyone. A fun-filled day of learning, laughter and fantastic engineering—well done, Otters, Badgers and Foxes! 👏🏛️✨

This week at Little Acorns, we have been making hot air balloons as part of our "Let's Explore" topic. The children have had lots of fun creating a variety of colourful patterns while learning about how hot air balloons travel through the sky.

We have also been drawing our own types of transport. The children have created pictures of cars, trains, aeroplanes, and boats, and have shown wonderful creativity by inventing their own unique forms of transport.

In maths this week, we have been focusing on "Count It, Build It, Write It." This helps the children develop their understanding of quantity by counting objects, representing the correct amount, and practising writing the matching numerals.

All of the children have been working so hard on their handwriting, taking care with their letter formation and showing great pride in their work.

In Drawing Club, we have been building our own individual story settings using lots of different materials, including junk modelling, magnetic tiles and wooden blocks. The children showed brilliant imagination and creativity as they brought their ideas to life.

We also enjoyed a cool and calm PE session with yoga, helping us stretch, balance and relax.

Year 1 have also made and painted some beautiful pots in art — they look fantastic!

Well done Robins and Starlings for another enjoyable week of learning.
