This one feels extra special… so sturdy, with this gorgeous wild deer leather made by and the details in buckskin made by , then brought together by me and my wee sewing needle. You can see the dark lines on the leather; scars that the deer obtained in its life. Many of them on the back of its neck, probably from squeezing through fences. I think this little hint at the life of the deer is part of the magic.

For sale; a little sheep and deer leather pouch or large purse. Hand sewn by me, made from bark tanned leather by and , plus a little Scottish antler toggle from another Scottish crafter. The sheep lived its life on a wee croft in the highlands whilst the deer lived a wild existence in the highland hills… if ever there were animals that lived good lives.

The first of a run of sporrans I’m working on. Hand sewn with linen and buckskin; the kind of work I can pick up and put down, reminding me of the nature of the women’s work lineage… no felt making is happening in this house right now!

Sheep and roe deer leathers tanned by the ever wonderful and generous … my tanning tutor and experiment enabler ❤️

Today I parcelled up this waistcoat that I made a good few years ago to send it to its new home.

I’m so happy to see it go to someone who will enjoy [email protected]. I have so many unphotographed pieces of work that never make it online; and so they sit around my workspace waiting for something to happen. The documenting and photographing side of things is really not my strong point!

AND… I’ve realised recently that I hold back from sharing on here because of this weird inspiration/copying culture. I’m not innocent of this myself, it’s so easy to be inspired by all the beautiful crafts that are shared on here every day… and yet it’s so important to also share credit where credit is due. shared a spot on post on just this topic. I’m going to quote her here cause it’s so damn good!

‘Let’s lift one another up whilst cross pollinating’

Yes! It’s not the copying that’s the problem, it’s when it feels like a competition. This weird, yucky culture of getting one up on each other. I know it comes from a feeling of lack; and that’s where our work begins.

I’ve had a few messages recently of people asking about commissions, so I’m leaving a post here to say that I’m on maternity leave for the foreseeable future. I haven’t set a date for when I’ll be back to making; it will be whenever feels right for me and my family.

I have a few things in stock which I’m happy to share. Otherwise, I will be spending my time in the all consuming world of caring for my babes.

A waistcoat made out of a felt from a couple of years ago. It’s been nice going through my stash and repurposing some pieces that needed a bit more ‘something’.

I love to felt fleeces straight from the sheep to capture the way the wool sits, from dark roots to sun bleached tips. Something about that transition is just so divine. I wanted to explore fleeces with shorter fibres to make felted locks that are both practical and show this sweet colour variation.

Photographed at the giants causeway, a place steeped in mythology. Thanks to my wonderful sister for modelling it

Manx wool from Fife and deer antler toggles from the highlands. Manx are one of the more ancient breeds; hardy with short wool and magnificent horns. I have a few of these fleeces and plan to do a small run of these waistcoats at some point in the not to distant future.

A couple more pieces that are available from
I make a variety of patches in two sizes; large make great back patches (or wall decorations) and small are great for patching holes or general adornment! Each piece is unique and handmade by me 🤲🏻

I rarely list the smaller things I make online, usually I just sell them at events or fairs. Now, however, you can pick them up from the Wheel of Fate online shop!

As ever, all my pieces are slow crafted from my yurt workshop, heated by wood fire, working with wool sourced from local smallholders and shepherds 🌱

Finishing some spoons made by .bee with some kolrosing. I love the traditional basket weave design that you often see… and have learned that those straighter lines lend themselves to this technique way more than spirally ones. Sometimes things are done a particular way for a reason 😜
