It's been a while since we posted up about mini Ta**us, he's grow so much , both in age and skills , he's nearly mastered the ferro rod and cotton balls and has started nailing cramp balls , his tool safety and usage has grown in leaps and bounds and he's now onto a full sized fixed blade , laplander saw and his own axe , we can't wait to see where the next few years will take him

I've recently been working on some trapping skills and trigger mechanisms , I'm happy with how the pressure operated bird trap worked out 🙂🙂🙂

Today has been a massively productive day skinning and butchering a lovely muntjac .
We have shared out the spoils of our bounty with some of those that are closest to us and have put the rest through a meat grinder to make venison mince so our explorer scouts can make their very own venison burgers .
Mrs Ta**us will process and tan the hide in due course and she will hopefully make something spectacular with it
In a time where most of our Tinder's can be purchased and are man made it's very refreshing to keep skills alive by being able to go from tree to flame or ember very quickly
With being able to go to the shop and buy a 5 litre bottle of water it's easy to forget how much work and time actually goes into producing your own clean and tasty water in the wilds so today I thought I would do just that
I absolutely love finding dead ash trees like this , so many fire lighting resources 🙂🙂🙂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

A fellow scout leader asked me about some fire lighting Tinder's , so I was more to happy to oblige him and me and mini Ta**us headed down to the woods to harvest a good amount of cramp balls which will now be put in a cloth bag and dried for the next couple of weeks
Mini Ta**us also learnt about the cross cut Baton and why it's effective for shortening and getting a clean cut on everything from sticks to branches when you haven't got an axe or saw
Mini Ta**us had a go at batoning today and absolutely smashed it out of the park , alot of people say you shouldn't baton with a knife but I personally believe it's a safe and effective way to split small stuff down to size without hurting yourself
If your good at something keep practicing until your great at it .
I had just harvested this piece of birch bark from the fallen half rotten tree that was behind me and got a 1 strike light 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
