As part of Children's Mental Health Week, we talked about the different feelings we experience, linking it to the Inside Out characters. One of the things we discussed is about the physical feelings you experience with joy and sadness for example. It led to the children thinking about times when they have felt different feelings and importantly how they are able to help themselves manage these emotions. We were really proud of the way the children expressed themselves, really showing that they 'know themselves' and that they find ways to 'grow themselves' too.
Here are some top tips and a link to an activity you could try at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlklUf-pgPg

This week: Join a Dandelion Time information session

The charity, which supports children who are experiencing poor mental health, have three sites across Kent and have just opened a new branch in Shadoxhurst. An information session to learn more about Dandelion Time and the work they do takes place on Tuesday 28 January at 1.30pm-4pm. It includes tea & cake, a presentation and a tour of their new home. To register to attend a Discover Dandelion Time session, including exploring potential volunteering opportunities please visit: https://orlo.uk/JPlJk

Most of the children who attend Dandelion Time have experienced more than 4 adverse childhood experiences, some in excess of 10. The charity helps children reengage with school, strengthen relationships, and aims to make a lasting change in both their life and the adult/parent/carer that they attend with. They work closely with Virtual Schools Kent and are also supported by Kent Police as they support children in care and families who have experienced domestic abuse. Discover Dandelion Time sessions are open to anyone with an interest in the work they do.
