Global Perspectives - Discovering Our World
Our Pre-Prep children have been busy exploring the world around them through geography and history.
In Reception, the children became autumn explorers, taking a walk around the school grounds to look for signs of the changing season. They spotted colourful leaves, conkers and other clues that autumn has arrived.
In Year 1, the children took a bird's-eye view of their local community, studying a street map of Great Chart. They identified familiar landmarks, including the church and village post box, before reflecting on their own journeys to school and creating detailed route maps filled with colourful illustrations.
Meanwhile, Year 2 stepped back in time to become historical detectives. As part of their learning about the Great Fire of London, they carefully examined photographs and historical images, using clues to ask questions and make discoveries. The children noticed that many houses were made of wood and built very close together, helping them understand why the fire spread so quickly.
It has been wonderful to see the children developing their curiosity, observation skills and understanding of both the local area and the wider world.
