🎭Year 8 Drama: Our students have returned to this academic year with a strong knowledge of how to portray character and consider audience using key performance skills. We are starting the year with exploration of how to work as a team where each Tutor Group are working as a whole team for the project of creating a Team Tableaux. It’s been a fun challenge to understand the dynamics of how to work together as a class of 30 including everyone and they are doing a fantastic job. By having a tableaux, we have also been able to take photos to see our success and reflect on how it can be improved and action these points!🎭

⚽️Mr Moore’s Football Round-Up⚽️

It was a busy and exciting week of football for CGS, with both the Year 9 and Year 10 sides showing plenty of determination, effort and team spirit.

Year 9s – A Hard-Fought League Opener

The Year 9s travelled to Turner Free School for their first league fixture of the season. The boys created plenty of opportunities in the first half and produced a fantastic defensive display throughout the game.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the team came away with a 4–2 defeat. There were plenty of positives to take from the performance, and the boys can certainly build on this as the season progresses.

Player of the Match: Cole

Year 10s – Fighting Back for a Point

On Thursday, Mr Moore took the Year 10s to Folkestone Academy in search of their first league point — and what a performance it was

After finding themselves 3–1 down, the boys showed fantastic character, fighting hard and battling all the way back to secure an impressive 3–3 draw. Cole was on fire, scoring a fantastic hat-trick to help earn the team their first point of the season.

Players of the Match: Cole, for his outstanding hat-trick, and Charlie, who produced some fantastic saves to keep the team in the game

D&T Scalextric STEM Club 🏁🏎️ For Year 10 students interested in design, engineering and motorsport.

Scalextric4Schools is a nationwide competition where students design and build their own Scalextric race car, with the opportunity to compete against other schools at an annual race day.

Students selected for the team will be required to attend an after-school club on Thursdays from Term 2.

To enter, submit one A4 design page showing your idea for an aerodynamic race car. Your design should include annotations, dimensions and details of your material choices. You may also choose to submit a model alongside your design.

Please hand your entry to Miss Woollard by 15th October. Winning designs will be selected for the Team.

We are delighted to announce our chosen House Charities for 2026-2027:

💙 Year 7 - Make a Wish UK
🐾Year 8 - The Retreat Animal Rescue
💚 Year 9 - Pilgrims Hospices
🌞Year 10 - Rising Sun

Throughout the year, our students will plan, organise and take part in a range of fundraising days to raise awareness and vital funds for these fantastic causes. From supporting vulnerable members of our local community to helping children facing critical illnesses and caring for rescued animals, our students will have the opportunity to make a real difference.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful choices made by our students and look forward to seeing their creativity, compassion and commitment in action as they support these worthy charities.

Together, we can make a positive impact beyond the classroom and continue to demonstrate the values at the heart of our school community.
