Bluesing out the 7 Hills of Armagh with guest spots for some of the town’s finest local talent and with some of the most promising upcoming performers. Today marks one year since I started JR Guitar School! 🎉

I honestly can’t thank all of my students, parents, and everyone who has supported me enough. Your encouragement and belief in what I’m building has meant the world.

They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life, and that couldn’t be more true. Teaching guitar and seeing everyone’s progress has been an incredible journey.

I’ve got some exciting plans and big ideas lined up for the future, so I hope you’re all ready! 🤟🎸

Out of the office this week, so here’s a quick wee one! 🎸

Students always ask me the best way to learn the fretboard and improve their improvisation. The way I did it was by running up and down all five pentatonic shapes until they became second nature.

So here’s a wee A minor pentatonic loop that takes you up and down all five shapes. Hope you enjoy 🤟

For this week’s loop, we’re keeping it simple. The solo in Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana is probably one of the first solos most guitarists learn. It’s easy to pick up, but it’s a great example of how a simple idea can have a huge impact.
