We went on a bear hunt outside and had fun putting on our wellies to experience the swishy swashy grass, the river, the mud, the forest and the DARK GLOOMY CAVE!
We all brought something brown to school and had a show and tell session learning about the colour brown. Then we finished off by enjoying our bear biscuits for snack...YUM YUM!
Odd Socks Day!
On 18th November we celebrated Anti-Bullying week by wearing odd socks to school. This was an opportunity to encourage everyone in school to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
Throughout the week we have been learning about our feelings and how to be a friend to others.
Happy Healthy Kids Stay and Play Afternoon
To end our first half term we held a Happy Healthy Kids Stay and Play Afternoon focusing on how we can support our children with the development of their physical skills- both fine motor and gross motor.
We know the benefit of exercise and that children of 3-4 need to be active for 3 hours each day. Gross motor skills are crucial for everyday activities and to develop core strength in the body. Fine motor skills also develop core and shoulder strength to provide a stable base from which the arm and hand can move with control.
We therefore enjoyed a range of indoor and outdoor activities encouraging movement. It was great to see so many parents and relatives getting involved and having fun with their child.
Halloween Party Fun!
We enjoyed a great week celebrating HARVEST TIME in nursery! Thank you to the greengrocer who so kindly gave the children an apple to take home from their trip to the market.

We enjoyed lots of egg-citing activities in the lead up to Easter! We had lots of fun decorating and cutting out our own Easter eggs, boiling, painting and rolling eggs outside and having an Easter egg hunt. Happy Easter everyone! 🐇
In the run up to Easter we enjoyed learning about the life cycle of a chicken. We began by incubating 7 little brown eggs for 21 days. We counted down the days one by one until eventually we noticed a very small crack appear. It was very exciting and the anticipation was intense! Not long after our eggs began to hatch, one after the other until we had seven healthy, fluffy, yellow chicks.
Of course we then had the job of taking care of the chicks. They needed lots of heat, water and food ...not to forget cleaning out!!
It has been a great experience and opportunity to learn about new life in the lead up to Easter.
A visit from Spud the lamb! We enjoyed petting Spud before taking a turn to bottle feed her. She has a really soft and fluffy fleece. Her Mummy is a ewe and some day when Spud grows up she will be a ewe and have lots of little lambs of her own. For now Spud cannot wait to be released into the field where she can enjoy skipping and bouncing with all her friends!
Celebrating World Book Day!
We had fun dressing up as our favourite characters and sharing our favourite books with our friends.
Playful Museums Festival Storytelling Sessions
Armagh Robinson Library was delighted to welcome back storyteller, Liz Weir. It was great to welcome back boys and girls and to see how they all took part - lots of responses, lots of actions and lots of laughter.
Boys and girls and their teachers from Railway Street Nursery School joined storyteller, Liz. We also have some action shots with the Keeper, Dean Shane Forster and Assistant Keeper, Carol Conlin looking on.

Having fun in the snow!
Malachy’s Mum is a nurse so she came to help at our Teddy Bear Clinic. We found out all about the job of a nurse and what we can do to keep our bodies healthy.
As our teddies were feeling under the weather we took them to see the nurse. She checked their temperatures, bandaged them up and made them all feel much better!
What a busy week so far! We had a visit from the PSNI on Monday and fireman Nicky on Wednesday who explained that their job is to keep us safe. We listened carefully as we heard about stranger danger, what to do if we get lost, staying safe in our cars, what to do in a fire and much, much more. The highlight was looking inside the police car, turning on the loud siren and flashing lights, and trying on Nicky's fire helmet. Lots of learning and fun at Railway Street Nursery School!👮♀️🚒
