This week, our Tranby Year 12 students have been out on work experience, gaining invaluable insight into the world of work and representing our school with pride.

Mrs Harding had the pleasure of visiting a number of students this week and was delighted to hear how quickly they have settled into their roles, how well they have become valued members of their teams, and the fantastic contributions they are already making in their workplaces.

A consistent theme across every placement has been the way our students are connecting their learning in school to real-world situations. Employers have praised their listening and communication skills, their positive attitude, and their ability to think creatively, solve problems, and embrace new challenges.

We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this week. They are a credit to themselves, their families, and our school. Well done, Year 12—we can’t wait to hear more about your experiences!

🎓✨ A fantastic day at the UCAS Discovery event at the University of Hull!

Our Year 12 students had the opportunity to explore the wide range of pathways available to them, speaking with universities and apprenticeship providers about courses, careers and the exciting options open to them after sixth form.

One of the highlights of the day was bumping into Tranby alumna Millie, who is now in her first year at the University of Hull. It was wonderful to see her representing the university so enthusiastically and sharing her experiences with our students. Millie did a brilliant job inspiring the next generation to consider Hull as part of their own journey.

Thank you to everyone involved in such an informative and inspiring event. We look forward to seeing where our students’ ambitions take them! 🌟

🌟 Careers Focus of the Week: Creative Futures in the Arts 🎨
This week, we’re excited to align our careers programme with Sky Access All Arts Week, helping students explore the vibrant world of creative careers.
From film, music and design to digital media, performance and visual arts, pupils are discovering the wide range of opportunities the arts can offer. Through career exploration activities, they’re learning about the skills, pathways and real-life journeys of professionals working in creative industries.
✨ Why it matters:
The creative sector is one of the UK’s most dynamic industries, offering exciting roles that value imagination, innovation and storytelling. By exploring these pathways, students can see how their passions can shape their future careers.
🎯 This week’s focus includes:
Understanding different roles within the arts industry
Building creativity, collaboration and communication skills
Challenging stereotypes about careers in the arts
Inspiring confidence to pursue creative ambitions
We encourage families to continue the conversation at home – whether it’s discussing favourite films, music, games or artwork, all of these can open doors to future career ideas!
