On Monday, we were so lucky to have Holly join us for a fabulous day of art. With her guidance and encouragement, the children created some truly amazing pieces of artwork. We are so proud of what they achieved! Thank you, Holly, for running such a wonderful session for us. 🎨✨😊

Nursery pupils at West Alvington C of E Academy, part of the Learning Academy Partnership, have enjoyed an exciting educational visit to the Otter and Butterfly Sanctuary in Buckfastleigh this term.

Our Year 6s had a fantastic time canoeing on the estuary yesterday! 🚣‍♂️🌊
A huge thank you to Singing Paddles and the Kids on the Water initiative for giving our students this wonderful opportunity. We'd also like to thank the parents who kindly gave their time to accompany the trip and help with transporting students – your support is greatly appreciated. 😊

Chestnut and Hazel Class have been exploring life cycles this term through a range of exciting hands-on experiences.
Earlier in the term, we cared for caterpillars and watched in amazement as they transformed through each stage of their life cycle, eventually emerging as beautiful butterflies. The children loved observing the changes and learning about metamorphosis firsthand.
More recently, we have been learning about the life cycle of chicks. We were thrilled to see the chicks begin to hatch from their eggs at the end of last week. The children watched with great excitement as they emerged, and they have enjoyed seeing how quickly they are growing and developing each day.
Our children have been absolutely enchanted by both experiences. These real-life learning opportunities have brought our topic to life and helped the children develop a deeper understanding of life cycles in a memorable and engaging way. 🐛🦋🐣💛

🌿🌳 Forest School Fun 🌳🌿
We had such a lovely session at Forest School yesterday! It was wonderful to welcome our new students as they joined us for their transition morning. 😊
The children enjoyed exploring the outdoor environment, taking part in activities, and beginning to make new friendships.

Hazel Class had an amazing trip to the Eden Project last week! 🌿 We explored a wide variety of fascinating plants from around the world, linking perfectly with our current science topic. The children were curious, and loved learning in such an inspiring environment. A fantastic day! 🌎✨

We had a wonderful adapted sports day at West Alvington this week! 🌞
We moved our celebrations to the early morning before the sun got too high. Everyone took part in a variety of sporting challenges, and it was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day.
All in all, we had lots of fun – and of course, an ice pole to help keep us cool! 🍦
A big thank you to the Friends of West Alvington for their amazing support. From providing the ice poles to selling drinks, cakes, and organising the sports day raffle, your help and support is much appreciated .

Chestnut Class had a fantastic time on Monday visiting the Otter and Butterfly Sanctuary with our friends from Steeple Cove! 🦋🦦 This trip links perfectly with our current lifecycle topic, giving the children a wonderful opportunity to see it all in action. What a great day of learning and fun!
