A huge Danke schön to one of our wonderful parents, Anna, who came in to talk to the children about Germany, where she is from! She read a fantastic children’s story to us in German and even brought in some homemade pudding called Rote Grütze (red berry) which was delicious! We then enjoyed some colouring activities from Anna, featuring German words and their English translation. 🇩🇪 📖 🍮

It’s World Cup Fever this month! To “kick off” the celebrations the children came in wearing their favourite football shirts. Who do you think will take home the trophy this year? 🏆⚽️

We loved exploring how we can use multi link cubes during our getting ready for school session last week. We discovered different shapes and patterns, built and compared towers - which helped us with counting and seeing who had made the tallest tower! We even made letters and sounds - some of which were in our names and then had a go at sounding them out! What a clever bunch! ⭐️
As September gets closer and we plan to say goodbye to some of our wonderful children as they embark on their new journey starting school, we pride ourselves on our mini “Getting School Ready” activities with our amazing Nicola. This week we practised holding and carrying a lunch tray through a busy hall (in this case a little obstacle course). These sessions support children with balance, coordination, core strength and fine and gross motor skills. It’s also a great way to introduce them to real life situations. They were all absolute superstars and took it all in their stride. We couldn’t be prouder! 🌟
We were so lucky to have a special guest to celebrate World Bee Day with us at the nursery this week. One of our children’s grandparents is a real life Beekeeper! He taught us what it’s like to keep bees and look after them, how they make honey and why they are so important for our environment. The staff were just as intrigued as the children! Thank you so much for visiting us! 🐝 🍯

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join our lovely team at Althorne Day Nursery, providing lunchtime cover and supporting our practitioners during the busiest part of the day. If you enjoy working with young children and creating a calm, nurturing environment, this could be a great fit for you.
About the Role:
Childcare qualification preferred but not essential.
Supporting the team during lunch breaks.
Helping to maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment.
Opportunities to grow and develop within the role.
