Aldbourne Children's Book Group

Aldbourne Children's Book Group A book group for children from the rural community around Aldbourne. We support St. Michael’s School by helping run their library.

We are a group of volunteers who have been inspiring a love of books in children since 1975. We are a group of volunteers who believe passionately in developing children’s literacy and social development through reading books. We organise the annual Book Swap on World Book Day, and we bring authors, illustrators and professional storytellers to Aldbourne, creating unique events involving dramatic readings, creative workshops, and book-themed fun and games.

Are you looking forward to the partial solar eclipse on Wednesday 12 August? At 6.17pm in London (timings vary in other parts of the UK) the moon begins to cover the sun. The moon will slowly cover roughly 90 per cent of the sun by 7.05pm in Edinburgh and Glasgow, 7.10pm in Manchester and Liverpool, 7.11pm in Norwich and Birmingham, 7.12pm from London, and 7.16pm in Cornwall.

Did you know that its free for your children to order Children's books into the library? Aldbourne Library is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with a late opening on Mondays and Thursdays (handy for Secondary School pupils to collect homework or reading books).
