The children explored how sustainable living can help protect our planet and discovered the unique adaptations that allow Sarracenia plants to capture insects for nutrients.
A huge thank you to Mr King for sharing his knowledge and inspiring our pupils to think more deeply about environmental conservation and the natural world.

Birchfield is growing in the summer sunshine.
As we move through the second half of the summer term, our pupils continue to flourish, building on and consolidating the learning they have developed throughout the academic year. Just like the plants in our school grounds and greenhouse, they are growing in confidence, knowledge and achievement every day.
We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in the weeks ahead.

Year 7 had a fantastic day exploring Powis Castle as part of their Medieval history studies. From sketching and photography in the famous terraced gardens to exploring 800 years of history inside the castle, the students fully immersed themselves in the experience.
The afternoon saw them investigating the castleβs fascinating architecture, spotting arrow slits and turrets, and learning how this unique Welsh castle evolved from a medieval fortress into a luxurious residence. A brilliant day of history brought to life β with an unexpected game of hide and seek thrown in too which tested everyone's abilities in the 5 acre site.

From the moment we arrived, we were given the warmest welcome.
The children had an amazing time learning all about flowers and plants, discovering how they grow and why they are so important to our environment. They were also fascinated to learn about the different types of bees and the vital role these incredible creatures play in helping our world to flourish. ππΈ
As if that wasnβt enough, the children were treated to delicious drinks and chocolate biscuits, which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!
To top off an already fantastic visit, we were very kindly gifted a special bee home and a beautiful plant to take back to school so we can continue caring for nature and supporting our buzzing friends. ππ±
