St Oswald's R.C. Primary and Nursery School

Parents and carers are very welcome to join us today for our celebration assembly at 2:40pm.

We are proud to share that we have a newly formed committee of RotaKids at St Oswald's.

RotaKids are part of Accrington Rotary who have been serving our community for over 100 years!
Our new President said 'We aim to help our community and we only get one world, so RotaKids are going to make a difference.'

The children were all officially welcomed into their new roles, they received badges for their role as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer or Media Officer.

The RotaKids were elected by their peers and they already have lots of ideas on how we can help our local community but also how we can help others across the world! Watch this space - we have exciting plans!!

This week Eco Council are running a ‘Reducing Plastic’ competition. If you take part and work extra hard to reduce your plastic use both at home and at school you are in the draw to win a special prize-your very own reusable water bottle.

Eco council will be coming into the hall at dinnertimes, unannounced and at any point in the week. We will be checking to see if you are reducing your plastic use by using reusable and recyclable packaging in your packed lunches.

Can you reduce the amount of plastic you are using at home by
-taking picnics and using reusable packaging when going out of the house rather than buying food in packages
-using a reusable water bottle rather than buying plastic bottles of water and other drinks
-choosing the loose fruit and veg at the shops rather than the ones in plastic bags
-taking a bag with you to do your shopping and not buying a plastic one while you are there
-making sure you recycle everything you can at home by putting it in the correct recycling bin

Parents and carers are very welcome to join us on Friday 26th June at 9:00am for our Whole School Liturgy for St Peter and St Paul with Fr O'Brien. There will be no Celebration Assembly that day.

Message from the children on our Eco Council!

Eco council will be coming into the hall at dinnertimes, unannounced and at any point in the week checking to see if you are reducing your plastic use by using reusable and recyclable packaging in your packed lunches.

Non recyclable packaging includes crisp and biscuit wrappers, drinks cartons, squeezy yoghurts.

Don't forget, all children in school and nursery are eligible to win a reusable drinks bottle.
