🥾🎒 DofE Adventure Begins at TAS! 🎒🥾
Tomorrow, our first group of pupils will set off on their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition — and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve already achieved!
Over the next two days, pupils will be:
🚶♂️ Trekking through challenging terrain
⛺ Camping overnight
🔥 Cooking meals outdoors
💬 Laughing, problem-solving, and making memories with friends
But this isn’t just a hike — it’s a powerful part of our curriculum and personal development programme. The DofE Award helps build key life skills such as:
✅ Independence
✅ Resilience and perseverance
✅ Teamwork and communication
✅ Planning and reflection
For pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, experiences like this are especially meaningful. They offer a chance to grow confidence, overcome personal barriers, regulate emotions in real-world settings, and develop a sense of pride and accomplishment that can’t be taught in a classroom alone.
🌟 The expedition is just one part of the DofE journey. Pupils also take part in:
🎽 Physical activities
💜 Volunteering and giving back
🧠 Learning new skills
Together, these elements provide a well-rounded, intentional and therapeutic approach to personal growth — what we like to call sneaky teaching at its best!
We know this group will smash it, and we can’t wait to hear all about it when they return.
🗓 We’re also excited for our next group of Bronze pupils heading out in a few weeks, and for our Silver Award pupils who will soon begin their own extended expedition journey.
Good luck, everyone — you’ve got this! 👏
