π«β¨ Ever wondered what happens on an INSET Day? Here's a little sneak peek behind the scenes... π
While the school may have been quieter without our wonderful children, it was certainly a busy day for staff! πβοΈ
π Some staff worked remotely on end-of-year reports and planning for the exciting weeks ahead. π« Others came into school to prepare classrooms, organise resources and make sure everything is ready for another fantastic term. βοΈ Several members of staff also began the first day of their 12-hour Paediatric First Aid training, helping to ensure we continue to provide the safest possible environment for all our children.
Professional development is a vital part of school life. ππ Training days give staff the opportunity to develop their skills, stay up to date with the latest educational research, refresh key knowledge and explore best practice so that we can continue to provide the highest quality learning experiences for every child.
And, of course... there may have been a little time for some fun, laughter and even a dog walk or two! πΆπΆββοΈπ
INSET days are all about learning, collaboration, reflection and preparation. Every training session, report written and classroom organised helps us to be the very best we can be for our children and families. β€οΈ

πΎπ Game, Set... Match for Team Drayton! ππΎ
At the end of Term 5, a fantastic group of our Year 5 tennis stars headed to The White Horse Leisure Centre to compete against local schools in a tennis tournament. πΎπͺ
Placed in the D League, our team served up determination, rallied brilliantly and never stopped trying! While we didn't make it onto the leaderboard this time, we certainly scored an ace when it came to sportsmanship, enthusiasm and teamwork. ππ
We are incredibly proud of the way our children represented our school values throughout the dayβshowing respect, resilience and positivity both on and off the court. β€οΈπ
A huge thank you to the organisers, school staff and volunteers who helped make the event possible. Your support is always a grand slam πΎ

π¦π DINOSAUR DAY β 1ST JUNE! ππ¦
Today is dinosaur day, a global celebration of palaentology and prehistoric natural history.
Did you know that some dinosaurs were as small as a chicken, while others were longer than a school bus? π€―π And even more amazingly... birds are the closest living relatives of dinosaurs! π¦π¦
To celebrate Dinosaur Day, why not turn your home into a prehistoric playground with some dino-tastic activities suitable for children from Nursery right through to Year 6? π
π¦ Dinosaur Shadow Hunt Use a torch and toy dinosaurs (or make dinosaur shapes with cardboard) to create giant shadows on the wall. Can you guess which dinosaur it is? π¦
𦴠Fossil Making Press leaves, shells, toy dinosaurs or even your hand into playdough or salt dough to create your own fossils. Future archaeologists at work! π©βπ¬π¨βπ¬
πΏ Dino Habitat Challenge Create a dinosaur habitat using cushions, blankets, sticks, leaves, boxes or LEGO. Would your dinosaur live in a jungle, desert or swamp? ποΈ
π How Big Was It? Use string, chalk or measuring tape to mark out the length of different dinosaurs in your garden, home or local park. You might be surprised how enormous they were! π
π¨ Nature Dinosaur Art Collect leaves, twigs, petals and stones to create a dinosaur picture. What prehistoric creature will you design? ππΌ
π₯ Dinosaur Egg Rescue Freeze small toys inside ice cubes or containers and challenge children to rescue them using warm water, spoons and patience! βοΈπ¦
π Dino Dance-Off How would a T-Rex dance? Can you stomp like a Stegosaurus or glide like a Pteranodon? Put on your favourite music and get moving! πΆπ¦
π Create a Dino Fact File Older children could research their favourite dinosaur and create a fact file, poster or mini presentation to share with family and friends. π
β Dinosaur Fact of the Day: The mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex had teeth that could grow up to 30cm longβabout the size of a ruler! π²π¦·
