This Former Coast Guard Member Never Planned to Be a Nurse — Until His Son Was Born Inspired by the nurses who cared for his family, he left his career, enrolled in nursing school and returned to the same hospital as a NICU nurse.

U.S. Senator John Thune visited campus Monday, connecting with university leadership and getting an inside look at the new Business and Health Innovation Center.

We appreciate Sen. Thune taking the time to visit and learn more about the exciting things happening on campus!

That’s a wrap! 🎉 What an amazing rotation with this incredible group of NSU Nursing students! Leave it to instructor Myranda Becking to turn expired syringes into the perfect end-of-rotation memory. ☀️💉 So proud of how much this cohort has grown — and so grateful for our partnership with Avera St. Luke's that makes hands-on learning like this possible. The future of nursing is in great hands! 💛

The last of our anatomy classes came through on Friday from Groton, Mobridge, Leola, and Gettysburg.
NSU Nursing had a blast showing these students our new building as well as having them participate in one of our simulations! ❤️🩺💛

And we ended our day with our Fall 2026 New Nursing Student Orientation. So excited to start our 3rd cohort in August! ❤️🐺💛

Next up was MORE Anatomy Days! Today we got to show Webster, Warner and Ashley, ND our new building and tell them all about Nursing at Northern!
