One of the early hymn suggestions from our pupils this week was “All Things Bright and Beautiful.”
After a busy week, with its ups and downs, we ended the week by singing the hymn again. The pupils faced their challenges, kept trying, and each pupil made progress in the areas they had been working on. Certainly! They are very proud of themselves too, just like we are!

During Biblical Studies , our pupils took part in recitation, a valuable part of learning. Through repetition and speaking aloud, we hope God’s Word is not only learned, but gently inscribed upon their hearts.
We are taking recitation seriously and giving it an important place in our school, recognising that the focus and discipline it develops are valuable not only for learning now, but throughout life.

This week, our Board Chairman, Mr M Noble, came in one morning, as he does at the start of each school year, to remind the older pupils and introduce the new ones to the good behaviour expected in school.

It was a simple and practical session. The children worked in groups, sorting different behaviours into good and bad. There was quite a bit of laughter too, as Mr Noble acted out some of the examples, making the lesson easy for the children to understand and remember.

Our Manner of the Week: ​

"Be respectful of parents, teachers, and adults."

It is important to respect those who care for us and are in a position of rightful authority. This means obeying good instructions from parents, teachers, and adults who want to help us, teach, and keep us safe. Respect also means listening carefully, responding promptly and politely, and not needing instructions repeated. Can you think of other ways to show respect?
Thus says God's Word: "Children obey your parents for this is pleasing to the Lord." (Col 3:20) - Mr Tiley, Class Teacher

The younger pupils used fine art and performance to explore the story of Jericho in Biblical Studies, with the blowing of the horns as the main activity. Through this, they pictured the Israelites going around the walls seven times and blowing the horns something that must have seemed impossible, yet happened.
Alongside developing their skills, they learned a simple lesson about faith in God.

‘Looking at someone when they speak shows that we care, we are listening, and we value what they have to say. Try not to let phones, toys, games or other distractions take our attention away.
It also helps us notice how others are feeling and makes us better friends. What would God have us do?’(Mr Tiley)
