Here it is, warts and all! Tonight’s programme included the rarely heard Elegia a Tarrega by Fortea, along with works by Pujol and Tarrega himself. Now for a glass of something strong!

I really enjoyed playing at St Bride's, Fleet Street today. Here is the concert, minus spoken introductions, most applause and the encore. Many complain that guitar videos are being presented so highly edited that it is creating an unrealistic idea of what performance is, so here is a chance to hear all my mistakes!

I first met Danilo Bazzana on a trip to Milan several years ago and was so impressed that I played part of my concert on his guitar! As soon as I returned, passed on his details to DKClassical Guitars, who now imports these beautiful instruments! Here is Julia Florida, one of the most romantic of all guitar pieces, by Barrios, recorded in May 2025 at DK Classical Guitars.

A live concert performance - 'warts and all' - of 'Capriccio Diabolico' at Aberdeen Arts Centre, 31 October, 2025. There is a fantastic 'clinker' in this performance. See if you can hear it!

Purcell - Chaconne (from 'The Fairy Queen')
Part of a live performance recorded at home during the 2020 'lockdown', here is the 'Chaconne' - also known as the 'Dance of the Chinese Man and Woman - from Purcell's 'The Fairy Queen'. Does anyone know if this has been arranged for solo guitar before?

Christmas Special 1: Away in a Manger - 'Gran Tremolo'
The references to 'Gran Tremolo' and Tárrega are slightly humorous and not meant too seriously... I was however pleased with the 2nd half, where the tremolo becomes a descant in the choral style with the melody set in the tenor register! Let me know what you think!
I'd hoped to make a new recording of this but various things got in the way. However, I have re-released this 2023 one and tried to improve the poor video quality as much as possible. For those who want to give it a go, the sheet music, which has been re-edited, is linked in the video description!
