Emma Lowson School of Highland Dancing

30 years of Aberdeen City Open & Confined Championships. A huge well done to Rhona and her team for all the hard work over the last 30 years to run such an event.

I always remember when I competed it was one of my favourite championships then at the Music Hall in Aberdeen.
Our dance school donated a trophy to mark the 30 years & lovey Charlotte won it.

What an Easter ‘break’ 🤣 we have had 🐰💘🌷💛

Some highlights over the past couple of weeks;

✨Our lovely non competitive classes finished their first term of 2026
✨We helped our local community - Language Travel Tours with an afternoon of Highland dancing & ceilidh dancing in Stonehaven for some French Exchange students
✨We achieved some goals we set at the start of the year by winning some premiership points at the UKA Premiership down in Musselburgh for Eilidh.
-Mairi coming away with a top 6 finish at the UKA Premiership & taking prizes in her championship sections at the European & UK championship.
-Arya finishing 3rd Overall at UK and Runner up at European Championships
-Niamh finished 6th overall at European Championships and now is out in New York City with her academic school dancing in the Tartan Week Parade 🗽🍎

We are looking forward to getting back to classes this term, can’t wait to see our dancers again! 💓

Delighted to announce our latest Pre-Champion - Mairi!
Not only was it her attempt but her very first premier competition today.

So very proud of you & your lovely dancing today.

What an amazing run in Intermediate for this wee star! We’re so proud of Mairi for winning 7 out of 8 competitions and earning Dancer of the Day at 5 of them - what an achievement.
She’s one incredibly hard worker with the most fantastic attitude and personality.
We can’t wait to see what Premier has in store for you! ✨

💙🤍 UKA Dance Highland Gathering 2025 🤍💙

We had a great evening in Dyce celebrating our dancers success at the Scholarships.
Our wee Arya was lucky enough to perform her dance that she won the 9&under Scholarship on the evening.

Eilidh & Arya also danced the tattoo dance that they learnt on Friday with Crystel.
Girls all had a ball on the dance floor and Dionne & I have had a great weekend learning from all the wonderful lectures. Thanks to the UKA for a wonderful event.

Thank you to the wonderful Elizabeth Low and Rachael Walker for a brilliant lecture this morning on the 2026 Championship and Premiership steps in Dyce with UKADance. Girls really enjoyed their morning followed by come choreography with Crystal Benton. ✨🪩

A busy week of entertaining for our dancers 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🪩✨

Thanks to Aberdeen Chinese Association for inviting us along to their Chinese New Year celebrations. It was a lovely evening held at Aberdeen Townhouse. Our adult dancers were introduced to the Lord Provost of Aberdeen, and shared the stage alongside some traditional Chinese dancers and singers.

Then our younger dancers were joined alongside the Walker School of Dance to entertain the Over 60s Club for Chapelton Community Association’s annual Burns Supper. Without a rehearsal, these talented kiddos managed to put on a great performance.

A great day of dance provided by the RSOBHD and the Pivot into Action team.
Our dancers had a lovely day, big thank you to all the wonderful lecturers.

💙✨ UKA Scholarships 2026 ✨💙

What a start to the new year. A huge congratulations to our dancers who qualified this year to the UKA scholarships.

Delighted to announce that Arya was the 2026 UKA Scholarship WINNER in the Bronze/Silver 9&u Section, with 1st in her Technical Class, Choreography & 3rd in her theory paper! ⭐️

Mairi was 5th overall in the same section, she won 3rd overall in her technical class, 6th overall in her Choreography & Theory paper.

Isla was 4th overall in her Technical Class and a judges recocognition in her choreography in the Junior Bronze/Silver Section.

Eilidh was 4th overall in her Theory Paper in the Gold 14/15 Section.

Emma danced brilliantly in her first ever scholarship event.

Proud of all your hard work and commitment to this event, especially since prep is during the festive period. 🤩

What a way to end the year! Another fantastic afternoon showcasing our years work to our families & friends.

Huge thank you to Great Western Community Centre for hosting us. We celebrated our recent UKA Dance examinations, big well done to each & every dancer on their dedication throughout the year.

Our DOTY went to Arya Coleman for an amazing competitive season.

Can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for us.
