At the weekend, Cabro Aviation were on site at Dyce to support a drone team carry out a drone task on a clients premises. An Aeronautical Radio Operator was on site to liaise between the drone team and Aberdeen International Air Traffic Control. An additional observer was also on site ensuring any traffic or personnel movement were aware of the drone activity. As usual the task went well thanks to Aberdeen International Airport, Air Traffic Control which is provided by NATS.
The task was carried out by Air Control Entech, using a DJI Matrice M300 UAS to capture images and video of the facility. Air Control Entech are a specialist inspection company based in Aberdeen providing service to a number of industries.
Cabro Aviation have provided radio operators at a number of sites around Aberdeen International Airport for a number of drone operators, which also includes filing the required paperwork and arranging to get the geofencing on the UAS removed.
With the Permission for Commercial Operation (PfCO) now replaced with the Operational Authorisation, Cabro Aviation has just renewed the paperwork for another year as a commercial drone operator specialising in Airside work at airports.
As Scottish affiliates for Commercial Drone Training, Training to become a commercial drone operator is carried out in Aberdeen on a regular basis, face to face training will resume when COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed.
