I got THE loveliest message from a client yesterday. 🫶

They told me our work together helped rebuild their confidence, understand their personal value, and take key decisions in their career and the life they’re building for their family.

My coaching is built on positive psychology - starting with strengths, not with what needs “fixing.” When you know what you’re good at and where you add value, that’s the foundation for everything else.

We do also consider where we don’t have natural strengths, because left unmanaged those can become risks. Self-awareness means you can plan for that. BUT the focus always stays on strengths - because that’s the brilliant person you uniquely are.

We also talk a lot about what success actually looks like for you right now. That’s not fixed, and it can often shift. A promotion might be everything at one stage, more space for family at another. Both are right, depending on what you value most in that season.

So we work on:
💫 Getting clear on what you’re good at + what gives you energy
💫 Building self-awareness around risk areas + planning for them
💫 Defining success for you right now (and letting go of that does change)
💫 Getting clear on your values + how they show up in your work + life

I am SO grateful I get to do this work- and feedback like this is the cherry on top. ✨ 🍒

I am SO excited to be launching a new programme. 💫

The Returners Project is a coaching programme for people returning to work after time away - whether that’s a career break, caring responsibilities, long-term sickness, or maternity leave.

This is something I am really passionate about - returning to work after a year off with my daughter was a huge transition for me, and I would have really benefited from support like this.

The programme blends tailored 1-2-1 coaching with a small group cohort, so you get dedicated space to work through your own goals as well as the support of others navigating the same stage alongside you. I will pop a link in the chat to find out more.

The programme is based on three key areas:
💫 I am my unique self - reconnecting with what success looks like for you now, and showing up in a way that feels like the brilliant person you are
💫 I am empowered - quietening the inner critic, rebuilding self-belief and leading with the emotional intelligence to navigate your return
💫 I make things happen - building confidence in your decisions and the flexibility to thrive, so the momentum keeps building long after the programme ends

I’ve delivered this coaching 1-2-1 for years, and I’ve always wanted to run it as a group programme too - adding an extra layer of support through the community the group provides, at a stage of life where having people around you who just get it makes such a difference. It’s built on the principles of The Marsha Project, the strengths-led approach I’ve been delivering in organisations, now shaped specifically around the returner experience.

The founding cohort launches Monday 14 September and registration closes Friday 4 September.

It’s £475 (inc. VAT) per person, or spread over 3 monthly payments of £160 - and some employers cover this as part of supporting a smoother return, so it’s worth asking if that’s something yours would consider.

If you are interested in joining this cohort, or future sessions send me a message or email [email protected]

I am really looking forward to running a workshop for the Institute of Directors on “Turning Culture into Delivery” with the lovely Louise Doherty on the 19th August in Dundee.

I really believe performance doesn’t just come from strategy. It comes from the conditions people work in every day, and culture is what shapes those conditions. The organisations that are intentional about it are the ones that succeed.

In the session we’ll be exploring the paradox so many leaders are navigating right now, unpicking the assumed tension between culture and productivity.

It’s for business owners and senior leaders who:
✨ Want performance to match ambition
✨ Know culture matters but aren’t sure where to focus
✨ Want honest conversation with peers navigating the same challenges
✨ Are looking for practical insight they can actually apply

Louise and I have over 45 years of experience between us working out what actually shifts things when it comes to people and performance, and we can’t wait to share that.

If you’re a leader in Fife & Tayside (or fancy the trip to Dundee!) and want to be part of the conversation I’ll pop the link in the comments.

Would love to see some of you in the room ✨

Most people I work with despise the objective setting process, and a lot don’t actually bother doing it. Reinventing this to something more productive is something we are really passionate about at The Personal Growth Collective✨

In a client meeting this week I commented: if everyone in the organisation spent an hour in January writing objectives, that would be a real commercial cost - and 6 months on, I’d question the value it added.

To be clear: I’m ALLLL for clarity, direction and feedback. What I question is whether a once-a-year process still works.

Priorities shift in weeks now, not years. Setting objectives in January and dusting them off in December is out of step with how work actually moves.

The alternative? Ongoing conversations, led by line managers, not driven by HR paperwork.

We should be focusing conversations on:
💫 What are their strengths, and where do they need to grow?
💫 What does the next 3 months look like?
💫 Where should their time actually go?
💫 What’s in their way, and what support do they need?

Line managers give a HUGE eye roll at performance reviews for a reason — with big teams, they become a box-ticking exercise, not a real conversation.

Make it lighter and more regular, and it becomes a differentiator for engagement, performance, and the bottom line.

Want to make this different in your organisation? Let’s chat. 📩

We are feeling lucky to be ending 2025 as we started it, very grateful (SO on brand).

Grateful for the continued support of The Personal Growth Collective, and for the amazing people and organisations we’ve had the chance to work alongside this year.

As a small way of giving back, we have made donations to three charities close to our hearts:

💫JDRF International – in honour of my daughter’s bestie Theo (a real life superhero🦸) to support the ongoing work to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

💫 Cash for Kids – thank you for all the work you do to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK and in Aberdeen.

💫 Aberdeen Cyrenians – for the vital work they do to empower and support people facing homelessness and hardship in Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland

Thank you to everyone we’ve worked with this year, and the projects we have had the opportunity to be part of. Thank you for all the DM’s, words of advice and alllll the cheerleaders who support us from the sidelines,

We are really proud of the work we have been involved in and what has been delivered - so THANK YOU!

Wishing you and your loved ones contentment and moments of magic as we head into 2026. 💫
