What if your taste in partners was determined by your feeling of being uprooted or homesick as a member of a diaspora?

The grief that comes with the feeling of being uprooted as an immigrant or as a third culture kid, can actually express itself in many different ways in our daily life.

Namely, in our love life.

👉 Listen to the whole video to learn more about how feeling disconnected from one of your cultures, grieving the ideal connection to your culture, can influence who you end up dating.

Conflict arises frequently among groups of people that just experienced grief or loss.

Why? Because we tend to expect from our loved ones to react the way we do when it comes to losing someone we loved, or losing the stability we had, or even a dream or project we shared. We want their faces to show the same tears, the same expressions of pain, anger, and choc.

We expect from our loved ones to feel in their bones the same ache that is eating at us. And when we realize they don't, not in the same way, when we understand that they don't miss the same things we do, and maybe even don't understand what our dearly departed meant to us truly, what they represented, then we feel betrayed.

The truth of the matter is each link is unique. No one will ever feel it the way you do. And this might feel very lonely but it is also part of the complex beauty of human relationships and of our emotional body.

So when you feel lonely in your grief because no one is grieving the way you are, I invite you to ask yourself: "was I able to honor whom or what I lost the way I wanted to, the way I needed to?" If the answer is no, or not completely, that probably means you need a ritual to ground your grief.

And if you don't know how to do that, I am here to help.

You're speaking, and the subject changes. Or someone jumps in with their own loss, their own story, before you even get to finish.

If you are experiencing grief, loss or dealing with trauma, you probably have found yourself in situations where you were trying to voice your truth, to put your pain into words and eventually you ended up realizing that you weren't actually heard.

That is why many of us feel that we are to stay silent while grieving or battling trauma. And we end up isolating and shutting people out.

👉 As a grief counselor & transgenerational analyst, I can tell you that absolutely all of the people I help report that they found it difficult to find a place where they didn’t have to worry about what they were going to say, if they were going to be a bummer, or even worse, a burden.

They all needed to find a place where it is totally safe for them to speak, and allow themselves to say the truths that were silenced. And to be actually heard, and validated. Not to be interrupted, debated, nor to have their feelings nuanced.

💜 This is what I offer. In every space I hold, in individual sessions or groups, you can speak your truth without censoring yourself, without filtering your vocabulary and without fear of being interrupted or invalidated.

What you feel is legitimate. What moves through you is not up for debate. This is why Listening is my number one value.

If you recognize yourself in these words, and you are looking for a safe space, don't hesitate to DM me.

🇺🇸 "It'll never happen."

We hear it every time, and it's meant to reassure. Well...it doesn't !

Because the harm isn't hypothetical, it's already here ! In the rhetoric, in the headlines, in the daily weight of being watched, questioned, dehumanized.

A law being "unconstitutional" doesn't undo the damage of it being discussed out loud, over and over, by people who want your vote.

This isn't about fear of what's coming. It's about a wound that's already open and bleeding.

💜 I am Dania, grief counselor & transgenerational analyst. My therapeutic approach is both decolonial and spiritual.

Grief doesn't always look like tears.

Sometimes it looks like this: the dress, the lipstick, the smile you worked to hold in place.

Grief moves: it isn't only the collapse, it's also the showing up, the celebrating, the trying to feel alive again.

I'm Lebanese. We know how to hold a room, how to dance in it, laugh loud in it, fill it with joy even when something in us is breaking. It's how we stay connected to life, to each other, to the people we've lost. And it's not fake, it's real love of life.

But I've learned that same joy can also be the mask, the thing we reach for so we don't have to feel what's underneath.

👇Tell me in the comments: do you recognize that in yourself?

🇺🇸 This Pisces Full Moon is an invitation to surrender to the Divine.

This isn't about passively leaving things to God's will. It's about holding onto — in your mind and in your heart — the faith-fueled certainty that the outcomes you're hoping for are within reach.

And to do that, we're invited to make sure we're not living out some passive, ethereal, almost fantasized spirituality. On the contrary, this Full Moon — paired with a lunar eclipse — reminds us that practical sense, taking action, and grounded spirituality aren't just compatible: they're absolutely necessary together.

Discover what this Full Moon has in store for you — pick the pile that pulls you in most!

🇺🇸 Take the time for a few breaths and then pick a pile. Let your intuition guide you.

🇫🇷 Prends le temps de quelques respirations et ensuite choisis ton tas. Laisse ton intuition te guider.

🇺🇸 This Full Moon brings you to give thanks for everything you've received. It's time to take stock of what others have brought — and are still bringing — to your greatest achievements.

You're heading toward a success that's already on its way, and it's going to ask you to pay it forward to those who helped you lay the groundwork for the life you already have today.

Remember that giving doesn't have to feel like a loss, even if it can feel unsettling.

🇫🇷 Cette Pleine Lune t'amène à rendre grâce pour tout ce que tu as reçu. Il est

A common mistake is to equate Grief with Death and therefore to refrain from using the word Grief to describe other situations where a sense of loss is deeply felt.

In reality, loss can manifest itself in a variety of situations that shouldn't be underestimated in their impact on our meantl health or emotional stability.

Grief, no matter its form, brings with it a before/after transformation that sometimes leaves us with the feeling of having a part of us dying and coming back to life from slightly to radically changed.

What type of grief are you going through ? Did you realize it qualifies as Grief? Let me know in the comments.

Anticipatory grief is not limited to preparing yourself to the death of a terminally ill loved one.

In times of war, genocide, invasion, and as part of the Levantine diaspora, here are manifestations of anticipatory grief you are probably living with on a daily basis:
- preparing yourself to learning the brutal death of a loved one.
- anticipating learning that your village has been bombarded, invaded, leveled.
- preparing yourself to seeing your house destroyed.
- wondering if you'll ever be able to go back and how are you ever going to live with the reality of not being able to.

👇Let me know in the comments if you can identify other ways anticipatory grief manifests itself in your life.

You're afraid that grieving means forgetting.
You believe that if the pain softens, so does the memory of them. It doesn't.

Grief was never about moving on — it's about learning to live with the absence, and letting it shape you.

👇What's the fear that's kept you from fully delving in your grief? Tell me in the comments, I read every one.
