I will be MIA for a while :)
PhD is paused, typeface design is paused, teaching is paused.
Life is good, see you soon!

is a french typefoundry launched by Émilie Rigaud in december 2010, providing both display and text typefaces. for designing custom fonts. This name comes from a cute expression used by children to remember the alphabet, as I am very much interested in how we learn to read. As it underlines the link between abstract shapes of letters and the miracle of the learning how to read, I think this name is the best way to talk about font design.

Six years ago, I started a big adventure : a PhD about the history of Japanese typography! I am getting close to the end buuuut not quite there yet 🙃
I still have fonts I want to release (just opened my « work in progress » folder last week and felt like « gosh, this sans-serif HAS to exist one day ») but the priority is to finish writing this big piece of text! (Second priority just behind keeping alive a tiny human being)
So, sorry for not posting more lately, thank you for still being present and buying my fonts - you are therefore sponsoring research on Japanese typography 😁
My goal is then to share this research with you once I’m done with the writing.
In the meantime, I still want to showcase more of Caliste ❤️ that you can see on this post, my last (typeface) born, and I know I should be able to post soon some exciting in use samples of it.
- enough talking, back to writing this F*(reaking) PhD!!

Beautiful work by for the visual identity of .paris, a place in Paris dedicated to the transmission of knowledge and skills.
The whole identity has been conceived using my Pachinko font family, from the posters on site to the signage, from the website to the social media communication. What a pleasure to see Pachinko (especially the italic version 💕) used in a colorful environment and for such a purposeful space!

After many many hours of work, the Caliste typeface family is finally available! 😍 *Happy*
Callisto was a Greek nymph, follower of the hunting goddess Artemis. She ended up being transformed into a bear, and she is now up in our sky, shaped as the constellation of Ursa major (= the Big bear, la Grande ourse!).
🐻
This family started as what was supposed to be « a small » family, with only 4 styles, but I fell more and more in love with her… and developped in the end 24 styles. You can come try it and learn more about its design process on my type foundry’s website : http://aisforfonts.com/caliste [link in bio]
Thank you for your patience, I love to do everything myself but it can be quite time-consuming ^^

This is a book about women designed by women using fonts sold by women.
« Voix Off : imprimerie de femmes » deals with a non-mixed printing company founded by four activist women from the MLF (Women Liberation Movement) in Paris in 1982. By printing texts written by fellow women, feminist and le***an magazines, posters, pamphlets and books, they showed resistance to male domination over the industry.
The book, designed by F***y Myon , is the first release by . Their collection intends to showcase singular women in history and visual arts while questioning women’s positions in the editorial creation world. The typefaces used for their publications were chosen from the A is for catalog as an effort to support a French foundry run by a woman (aka me). Main typeface as seen on the cover is Knif mono, by , and the other one is Tongari, by Émilie Rigaud (aka me).

Are you team football or team basketball? Personally, basketball will always have my heart! 🖤🏀 Back in the days of my teenage time, we would go once a week with my dad to watch our local team play, in the small town of Châlons-en-Champagne. My favorite player was our American William Davis, a beautiful baby 2m00 tall, playing center. You could feel his body weight at each of his heavy steps, moving slowly towards his position to secure the stability of the team.
And here is my David font, beautifully staged in the magazine Entorse designed by
Love the detail of the back cover with the barcode as a basket ^^ and of course the cool font of the front cover by my Southern friends at (although I know we will never agree on which one is the best sport 😝)
