I never learned these in school, but I use / hear these all the time living in Paris
🇫🇷Je regarde pour l’instant, merci - I’m just looking for the moment, thank you
I use this all the time in shops 🤭
🇫🇷Convenir - to be convenient for, suited for, etc
Quelle heure te convient ? - what time is good for you?
🇫🇷Ça me va - that’s fine with me
🇫🇷C’est chaud - it’s difficult, a close one, a tall order, dangerous etc
This is so common in conversational French! Not to be confused with:
Il fait chaud - it’s hot (weather)
🇫🇷Bosser - to work (slang)
Elle bosse beaucoup en ce moment
(This is so so common in French, it always blows my mind how often French learners don’t know this word)
🇫🇷Boulot - work (slang, noun)
J’ai beaucoup de boulot - I have a lot of work
(Really common way to say “travail”)
🇫🇷Pas mal de - a lot of (like “beaucoup de”)
Il a pas mal de boulot - he has a lot of work
🇫🇷Ça n’a pas de sens - that makes no sense
I say this when I’m mad 😂
Another variation:
Ça n’a aucun sens

I helped 40+ new clients learn French this year!
The most successful ones had a few things in common:
🇫🇷Speak French from day 1
They focused on using the language in real life, as opposed to doing endless worksheets / books / apps / flash cards
You will never get good at SPEAKING French if you never practice speaking
(And of course I helped them find friends to practice the language with 😌)
🇫🇷Focus on communication
Communication > perfection
Mistakes are part of the game, I always tell them to “fail forward”.
You often can’t say something correctly without saying it incorrectly first.
Focus on communication, keep practicing, that’s how you get good at French
🇫🇷Use material for natives
I showed them how to watch / read material for natives.
It was difficult at first, but this is what pushed them to get better at understanding French
(there’s a technique to it, it’s not as hard as it seems if you know what you’re doing)
If all you ever do is use material for French learners, you will never get very good at French
⭐️Growth is outside your comfort zone !!
🇫🇷Use your time efficiently
I built them all a fully custom French routine so they could hit their goals as quickly & easily as possible
But it only took 15-20 min a day
As long as you’re doing the right things, you don’t need to spend hours a day studying
(a lot of you are spending a ton of time learning French, but you’re doing the wrong things, that’s why you haven’t seen much progress)
🇫🇷Key takeaways
1. Use the language from day 1
2. Communication > perfection
3. Use material for natives
4. Use your time efficiently
Still stuck in French?

How I got my client Michael speaking French in 3 months:
1. We focused on conversation - not boring exercises / books / etc
2. Found him friends to practice with - you will not get better at speaking French if you never speak French (and no, AI can never take the place of real life practice with people!)
3. Showed him what to watch/read in French to get the best results - everything we did was very targeted, tbts how he made so much progress!
1. Taught him correct techniques to make speaking French way easier - French is way easier than you think with the right techniques!
💡It’s not about “speaking a language perfectly”, it’s more important that it works and you can hold a conversation in French !!
From there you can always get better! Remember language learning is marathon
