Major accomplishment for the first MemBioMed cohort! They’ve concluded their first semester of coursework at ! 📚🔬
Coursework this semester focused on molecular biology, structural biochemistry, and pathophysiologies of the membrane. Each week students were met with new, exciting opportunities to learn from senior researchers active at the French Riviera’s research centers. Particularly from those researching ion channels at IPMC (Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology) in Sophia-Antipolis and iBV (Institute of Biology - Valrose) located on UniCA’s Valrose campus.
Our brilliant students also had a choice to dive deeper into the field of biomedicine with a “free choice” course. Most were enrolled in New Therapeutic Approaches or Biophysics.
Finally, everyone had an option to choose a “tools” module to learn a technical skill related to biological research. MemBioMed students enrolled in LIFE Imaging, a course exploring the different imaging options available for research techniques. Others enrolled in AI for biologists to learn about the current and future uses of AI in the field.
Following the winter break, students will begin their 6 week internships in a laboratory in at one of the many state-of-the-art research centers in Nice.

⭐️ Enrolling in an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Program is so much more than joining an international master’s degree. 🌎🎓
It’s an incredible opportunity to discover new cultures and cuisines through events like International Lunch! Dr. Delphine Bichet and Clemence Benoit, MemBioMed Coordinators, gathered with students from the 2025-2027 cohort to share traditional dishes from their countries. Students from Nepal, Iran, Egypt, Spain, Georgia, Ukraine, the Phillipines, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Germany, the United States, Mexico, Bangladesh, and Nigeria shared their countries’ yummy cuisines over laughs, creating memories that will surely last a lifetime.

✨ Attending the Erasmus Mundus Conference 2025 – The Sustainability of Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programmes
📍 Brussels – 20 & 21 November 2025
I was delighted to take part in these two inspiring days dedicated to the sustainability of Erasmus Mundus programmes.
As the coordinator of the MemBioMed Master’s programme for just one year, it is particularly important for me to start reflecting now on how to ensure the long-term viability of this programme, so it can continue to train the future global leaders in biomedical sciences.
These two days were incredibly enriching: insightful talks, strategic discussions, and many exchanges with fellow programme coordinators working on very diverse—yet always impactful—themes for the future of humanity and our planet.
A big thank you to the organisers and colleagues for these motivating exchanges!
Ready to keep working to secure a strong and ambitious future for MemBioMed. 🚀
