September in Osnabrück was all about taking a break from the science and focusing on cultural immersion and learning German! The 25-27 cohort attended a 3 week intensive german course paired with free-time activities to get to know the other international students from South Korea, Japan, France, England, Poland, Slovakia, and more!

From 1–4 September,Université Côte D’Azur welcomed the second cohort of the MemBioMed Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Erasmus Mundus Joint Master for an inspiring Welcome Week! 🎓🔬

Over four days, our new students met their classmates, discovered the programme and its research environment, visited the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (IPMC), and connected with the MemBioMed community. 🤝

From scientific sessions and team-building workshops to rooftop drinks, a garden party, a tour of Nice and a boat trip across the Baie des Anges ☀️⛵ — it was the perfect start to their two-year journey across Europe.

🌍 Meet the MemBioMed Cohort 2026–2028! 🧬✨
And the journey begins! 🚀

We are excited to welcome a new generation of talented students to the Erasmus Mundus MemBioMed programme — bringing together diverse nationalities, academic backgrounds and perspectives from across the world.

Over the next two years, our students will travel across France, Italy and Germany within the MemBioMed consortium, combining advanced academic training, hands-on research and international experiences.🌍

Their scientific journey will take them deep into the fascinating world of biomembranes and membrane biology — exploring the fundamental role of membranes in biological processes and their importance in health and disease. 🔬🧬

But MemBioMed is about more than science: from classrooms and laboratories to shared adventures, new cities and everyday moments, these two years will be an opportunity to build not only a strong international scientific network, but also friendships and memories that last far beyond the programme. ✨🤝

Two years. Three countries. One international community. Countless opportunities to learn, explore, collaborate, innovate — and make lifelong friends. 🚀 We can't wait to see where this journey takes you!

One year in and they’ve finally made it to Universität Osnabrück! They were greeted in Germany by the professors Biologie Osnabrück and their fellow master’s and PhD students during a weeklong summer school.

The first part of the week was focused on hearing from prospective master’s thesis supervisors about some projects they are offering. Then, they attended a symposium on the “Spatio-temporal Dynamics of Living Membranes” with lecturers coming from across Europe and the USA.

It’s a bit colder than their previous mediterranean homes but it sure will be one unforgettable semester.

Thank you to the UOS International Office for facilitating a smooth transition. And thank you to the faculty and students at UOS’s Biology department for making us already feel at home!

📣 The MemBioMed call for our 2026-2028 cohort has now officially closed, and the selection process is complete.

🌍 We are proud to share that we received over 3,100 applications from more than 102 countries around the world, reflecting the truly global reach and impact of the MemBioMed EMJM programme.

🎓 Following 141 interviews, we are delighted to announce a new cohort of 21 outstanding students representing 20 different nationalities. We warmly welcome this exceptional group and look forward to beginning this new journey together! 🌟

And they’re off! 🚀✨ The 2025-2027 MemBioMed cohort moved on to📍Genova, Italy to begin their second semester at 🇮🇹🔬

At the beginning of March, they kicked off the new semester with two days of orientation. One day focused on learning about the upcoming semester and the other to explore their new host city as a group!

The cohort will spend this semester focusing on studying genetics, molecular pathology, proteomics, and neuroscience alongside their semester-long lab rotations in various research institutes in Genova.

Nothing like celebrating the end of internships like an overnight trip to a ski resort! The MemBioMed cohort traveled with a panel of their professors to Valberg Ski resort to present their internship projects and celebrate the end of a successful semester with a fun day in the snow! 🧑‍🔬⛷️🚠🎿❄️

Next stop: Genova, Italy! 🇮🇹
