Hello Montpellier!
Are you familiar with the concept of a cooperative and participative store? If not, I invite you to go to La Cagette to meet its members so that they can explain the unusual principle of this neighbourhood grocery store.
Good mood, eco-responsibilities and ... consumption are there!

WHAT IS A RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION?
Global warming, over-consumption, sustainable development and many others. So many terms that we hear more and more but we don't always know what's behind them.
And if I tell you better consumption, can you tell me what that means? If not, we'll find out together.
Better consumption means being in favour of sustainable production and consumption. So, there is an ecological aim behind it, there is no doubt about it, but also societal and social, as well as economic (wouldn't that be reminiscent of something?). Let's see what this means in practice:
• Buy better
For example, going to the market with a wooden crate and filling it with vegetables in bulk rather than buying them in plastic packaging in supermarkets. Or eating cabbage in winter and strawberries in spring because strawberries are good but getting them out of season has a cost (for the wallet and the planet).
• Consume better
If I ask you the origin of the products sold in your favourite supermarket, would you have the answer? And now if I ask you where the local farmer gets his food from, would that be a little easier?
As you can see, I'm trying to draw your attention to where your products come from. Because buying better is good, but it goes hand in hand with buying local! Filling your glass bottle with home-pressed orange juice from the corner grocery store won't make up for the fact that the oranges come from Latin America (as it is often the case).
• Throw better
Glass, plastic, food scraps, aluminium, and the list goes on. You think that's a lot? Well, remember that when you love, you don't count! So, when you see several trash bins, make the effort to put your garbage in the one that corresponds.
But beyond this simple and yet not insignificant gesture, throwing away more is also throwing away less! There are a lot of ways to recycle what we think is at the end of its life; a rotten fruit? Compost! A plastic shopping bags? Turn it into a garbage bag!
This page is made to help anyone who wants to start their food transition. We are here to exchange, share and create a community of responsible people!
