Here’s the I wish someone gave me before I packed my bags. Swipe through if is on your radar — you might be surprised by #5.
1. Public universities in France = super low tuition.
But before you celebrate, know this:
You might not get the personalized support or lively campus vibe you’re used to. It’s more independent, more academic — and still totally worth it.
2. No one talks enough about how annoying the paperwork can be. Campus France, OFII, housing letters, insurance… the list is LONG.
Start early. Keep backups. Triple-check every doc.
This is not the kind of thing to leave to the last minute.
3. Yes, you can study in English. But living in France? That’s a whole different story.
From ordering your morning croissant to dealing with landlords — helps a lot.
Start early, be brave, and don’t worry — even broken French goes a long way.
4. Group projects are different. Professors might feel cold.
And being 10 minutes late? No big deal here (but depends on the professor).
France has its own rhythm. You don’t need to change who you are — just stay open and flexible.
5. is iconic, but it’s not the only option.
Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Nice… these cities offer:
• Lower cost of living
• Vibrant student life
• Real French immersion
Don’t sleep on the hidden gems!
6. It’s not just about classes. Studying in France stretches you — emotionally, socially, culturally.
