Honouring Leadership, Innovation, and Partnership!

Earlier in July, one of our Founding Directors, Annie Gukisuva was part of the team that took Hackathon to Rotuma for the first time - Fiji's first remote Hackathon.

29 August 2026 - a historic achievement for Mauri Institute and the Fiji Rotuman Association here in Suva because another one of our Founding Directors, Agatha Ferei Furivai is the newly elected Chairperson of the Fiji Rotuman Association following its Annual General Meeting held on Saturday. For the first time, the top three leadership positions are all women leaders, marking a proud and significant milestone for the Rotuman community.

This week, Mauri Professional Caregiving Institute (Mauri Institute) is honoured and blessed to have the presence of our cultural Chiefs from Rotuma, Gagaj Eratauf (Juju District Chief), Gagaj Manav (Itu'muta Chief & Council of Rotuma Chairman) and Mr. Savu (Rotuma's District Officer) at our Suva office.

They were taken on a special tour of the Fiji Innovation Hub space
to show them the environment & support ecosystem that help inspire and empower innovative & creative minds to turn ideas into real business. The Fiji Innovation Hub offers a dedicated environment where individuals and businesses can access mentorship, resources, and networks to transform ideas into impactful ventures.

Their visit highlights the vital role of traditional and public leadership in supporting education, skill development, entrepreneurship, and community-driven innovation across Fiji.

We are especially proud that one of our trainers and Director is part of this journey as a Certified Mentor with the Fiji Innovation Hub, contributing to the growth, guidance and development of emerging innovators and entrepreneurs in Fiji.

It is inspiring to see a space where ideas can be nurtured, creativity encouraged, and innovative solutions brought to life. We acknowledge the leadership and support of Creative HQ and Reserve Bank of Fiji in spearheading this important initiative and creating opportunities for Fiji’s innovators to connect, learn and grow.
