International Day of Peace
Planting of coconut tress to mark the International Peace Day by our Scouts and Girl Guides.
Coconut plants are an important part of our Fijian culture and our daily lives.
We get fresh coconut water and cream which is very healthy for the body and immune system.
The leaves are also useful for making brooms and baskets.
The trunks are very strong and are often used as bridges to cross over small creeks.
Coconut oil can also be extracted which has many applications.
Smoke from coconut husks repel mosquitoes.
Lastly, coconut milk is widely used in variety of Fijian dishes and in Indian Sweets
