📢 Repost ‼️📣
Students entering year 11 please make sure you choose the correct subjects based on your career aspirations. Also seek information on what are the requirements for your chosen field.
Teachers please advise accordingly. Let's NOT encourage students to take subjects which will only produce good pass rates.
Today once again was so sad to advise a child that his combination of English, Maths, TD and Agriculture would not help him to pursue his desired dream career.
To qualify for a Degree in Agriculture a student needs Chemistry and Biology apart from English and one more subject.
Similarly if a student wants to be a high school teacher in Fiji, he or she will need to take two teaching subjects. Only TD is not good enough.
Also if you are choosing two teaching subjects please choose two which belong to the same department such as History & Geography or English & another language.
Some students prefer odd combinations such as English and Maths since they are good in those two.
The problem will be you will be torn between two departments and it will be very hard to get a promotion to a HoD level later in your career.
These are very important decisions which affects your entire life.
PARENTS, TEACHERS PLEASE DO CHECK WHAT SUBJECTS YOUR CHILD IS TAKING IN YEAR ELEVEN AND ASK WHAT THEIR ASPIRATIONS ARE. SEE THAT ATLEAST THEY ARE DOING THE REQUIRED SUBJECTS.
NO ONE SHOULD TELL A CHILD THAT HE OR SHE SHOULD DO A SUBJECT SIMPLY BECAUSE ITS A SCORING ONE.
PRINCIPALS AND CAREERS TEACHERS NEED TO SEEK CORRECT INFORMATION WHICH IS EASILY AVAILABLE.
