Study in Valkeakoski

This week on Thursday our town celebrates annual Valkeakoski -day. There are happenings around the town during the day but here are some tips:

- In the swimming hall from 6 to 8 a.m. and from 6 to 8.30 p.m. swimming in the candle light :) Normal payment, which is for HAMK students only 2,50€.
- Myllysaari-museum (Kanavanranta 3 C ) is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m and there is an ENGLISH spoken guided tour at 5 p.m. I recommend that and even the entrance is FREE now !!! There is a pop-up cafe that day too. And if you have never seen a gondola before, we have one in Myllysaari. :)
- Open doors at 4 to 8 p.m. in youth center Pultti which is located beside the Myllysaari. There is a cafe too and f.ex. fashion show at 5 p.m.
- Possibility to buy sweet or salty waffles in Cafe Mio (Apiankatu 1)
- Big FIRE WORKS at 7 p.m. !!! The best place to watch it is from the bridge (Iso silta) which goes over the water, near the town hall and Myllysaari...

Hei ystävät ! = Hello friends !

Every Thursday in youth center Pultti (right next to the city museum in Valkeakoksi) there is an evening for those who are 18 years or a bit more... There are open doors from 4 to 7 p.m. There might be some program, but at least there you can spend some time together and meet young Finnish people and you can get information what events/hobbies and other possibilities the city has for young people. There is plenty of space to just hang out, possibility to play some games, take something from the youth center's cafe etc. Entrance is FREE.

For those who are interested in ice skating or learning to ice skate, there are many possible dates/times during the autumn holiday. The place is our ice hall Wareena. One time COSTS 2 €. Ask if you can loan ice skates from student mates or someone else or buy yourself old ones from second hand shops where you can find them probably with 5-15 euros. I also highly recommend you to have someone to teach you for one or several times... :) When you learn to ice skate, in winter you' ll have outside a lot of free places to go !

Usually during the year ice skating possibility is for the public every Sa 9-10 and Su 17-18. Be aware that the times mentioned above are ONLY for ice skating, NOT for playing ice hockey !!! They have other times for public to play ice hockey in the ice hall Wareena.

The next Language cafe where you can meet people from different countries and talk to them and maybe even make new friends is in the LIBRARY on 1. of November. See you there !

STUDENTS NEEDED!

We were asked to promote Chinese business courses by the Head of degree programme in International Business Antti Isoviita.

The courses: Basics of Chinese markets & Chinese Business cultures need more students to really get going. In these course we take a look in how doing business in China, how the culture is there and what kind of a country China is in business nowadays.

These courses are taught by two teachers: Antti Isoviita and a Chinese teacher named Kai who has studied in HAMK and works now in Finland.
