Inviting researchers, artists, professionals, and activists to our conference, Spinning the Sticky Threads of Childhood Memories: From Cold War to Anthropocene 20-21 October 2021. Abstract submission NOW OPEN https://events.tuni.fi/recollectreconnect2021/ Our conference uses Decentered Satellite Conferencing to reduce environmental impact and work toward more equal engagements. Participants will connect virtually & regionally at 1 of our 5 hubs: Tampere/Finland, Atlanta/USA, Berlin/Germany, Hajdúböszörmény/Hungary, Africa Online. Each hub is organized thematically around its own local call for participation that connects, contextualizes and adds new directions to engage with the conference’s broader theme. Please visit the hub specific pages to explore the local calls. The conference programme of the Africa Online hub will span for the period of 11-22 October and of the Berlin online and onsite hub 20-22 October.

Dear all! We are almost in February, which means we can soon say ”Our exhibition will open this month”. Hurray! Please stay tuned for an invitation to an online opening of the Kaleidoscope Children of the Cold War museum exhibition starting 6pm Feb 25th local time.

Tänään vietetään YK:n kansainvälistä koulutuksen päivää.

Suomessa sata vuotta sitten voimaan tullut oppivelvollisuuslaki teki kuusivuotisen kansakoulun käymisestä pakollista. Koulunkäynti ei enää ollut vain hyväosaisten etuoikeus, vaan kaikki pääsivät koulun penkille. Seuraava suuri muutos koulunkäynnissä tapahtuu tänä vuonna, kun oppivelvollisuusikä nousee 18 vuoteen.

Werstaan tulevassa Kaleidoskooppi – Kylmän sodan lapset -näyttelyssä pääsee tutustumaan monenlaisiin lapsuusmuistoihin kylmän sodan ajalta ja sen jälkeen. Monet näistä muistoista liittyvät kouluun. Esimerkiksi Neuvostoliitossa Leninin kuvat ympäröivät koululaisia kaikkialla – koulukirjoissa, luokkahuoneiden tauluissa ja patsaissa. Lapset laskivatkin asiasta keskenään leikkiä: kirjojen kuviin saatettiin piirtää päälle tai patsaat koristella uuteen uskoon.

Kansainvälinen Re-Connect / Re-Collect -tutkimusprojekti on kerännyt muistoja ympäri maailmaa ja Kaleidoskooppi – Kylmän sodan lapset -näyttely on osa Tutkitun tiedon teemavuotta 2021. Näyttely avautuu yleisölle Työväenmuseo Werstaalla 26.2.

Instajoulukalenterimme 10. luukussa pohditaan jouluja kylmän sodan aikaan.

Kuva on esillä Kaleidoskooppi - Kylmän sodan lapset -näyttelyssä Työväenmuseo Werstassa 26.2. alkaen. Näyttely kutsuu erityisesti lapset ja nuoret luomaan yhteyksiä menneisyyden ja nykyisyyden välille.

Näyttely on osa Tutkitun tiedon teemavuoden ohjelmaa ja se on tuotettu yhteistyössä Decolonial and De-Cold War Dialogues on Childhood and Schooling, Tampere University, Koneen Säätiö - Kone Foundation Reconnect/Recollect-tutkimushankkeen kanssa.
