Yesterday was electric. ⚡🎮

The Transmedia Game Jam Showcase brought a packed room of industry professionals together to witness the results of the world’s first animation IP × game jam, and the energy was undeniable. The room was full of curiosity, anticipation and momentum. The Showcase marked the official close of the Transmedia Game Jam Accelerator, a programme that combined bold creative ideation with masterclasses on IP strategy, IPR, marketing, and community building.

A big thank you to the evenings venue host .bario.helsinki who yet again provided an ideal space to host the event. If you are planning on hosting a company event and need a venue we highly recommend checking them out!

Helsinki Film Lab also wants to extend a huge thank you to all participants for embracing this pioneering journey, and to our incredible mentors: Christian Fonnesbech, Inari Revonjoki, Begüm Dogan, Tatu Petersen-Jessen, and Jukka Jäske. Thank you for sharing your experience, and also asking the tough questions when needed.

And of course, our partners who made everything possible:
AVEK Kopiosto (for giving us the opportunity to make Finland the hub of transmedia innovation!)
Game Makers of Finland (for catering during the Game Jam!)
Valofirma - The Light House (for the unforgettable jam space)
Super Bario (for being our official ideation and pitching venue!)
Fondia Oyj (for making sure everyone knew what their IP rights and best practices in the transmedia realm!)
Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN) (for being so generous with your participants!)

It has come to our attention that Super Bario, a dear partner to Helsinki Film Lab, has received unexpected financial trouble. They are currently looking for support from the community to help them survive this crisis. If you are interested in helping them out please check out their fundraiser.

The existence of hubs such as Super Bario is important to grow in-person communities around games. Losing them would be felt by many.

Read more about theri fundraiser here: https://mesenaatti.me/en/4174/super-bario-the-co-op-campaign/

Help us help them!

Last weekend the skilled cross-industry teams transformed animation IPs into video-game prototypes at the Transmedia Game Jam. Everything from visual novels to pinball games were prototyped during the jam, all with a focus on how to create something interactive while keeping the core aspects of the IP.
Thanks to our venue sponsor Valofirma the participants got the opportunity to jam at a very special site, a real film studio. We are very grateful for Valofirmas hospitality and support for the programme.

If you are interested in seeing the final pitches of the programme or you want to do cross industry networking yourself, then make sure to sign up to the Film x TV x Games x Comics Industry Networking event 26th of February.
