ESERA2015 is the 11th biannual Conference of the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA) to be held in Helsinki, Finland from Monday 31 August to Friday 4 September 2015. The theme of the conference is Science Education Research: Engaging learners for a sustainable future. The theme underlines the aspects that are of relevance in science education research and the human beings as responsible for a sustainable future: the need to reflect on different approaches to enhance our knowledge of learning processes, and the role of context, designed or circumstantial, formal or non-formal, in learning and instruction. Highlighting these themes does not mean underestimating or neglecting other important aspects of science education research and practice.
