ATTN 🔥 Three calls are closing soon (Dec 31) for the AyarKut AIR, a new residency program in Yakutia, Russia. Between “Indigenous Knowledge”, “Soundscape of the Arctic” and “In dialogue with Nature,” the program seems to analyse the Yakut environment and its development both locally and in the wider Arctic context. The residency is funded, and organised by the great and dear former HDR cooperator Alexander Burenkov (ex Strelka Institute, Cosmoscow Foundation). More info and application:

Two calls for application are open for the inaugural edition of ɬɾąŋʂɠɛŋıƈ ɧƙı, a new postdisciplinary residency for spatial practice and research at the material and political seams between built and natural environments.
The residency, which will take place at Villa Eläintarha from August 2 to September 19, builds up upon the history of the Helsinki Design Residency program, which from 2017 to 2020 was curated by Martin Born, now ɬɾąŋʂɠɛŋıƈ ɧƙı's curator and producer.

Additionally, MA- and PhD-level students in the Architecture, Contemporary Design, and Urban Studies and Planning programs at Aalto University and Helsinki University are eligible to apply. Application deadline for both calls is May 10.
ɬɾąŋʂɠɛŋıƈ ɧƙı is curated and produced in coalition with Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design, and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s International Programme for Visual and Applied Artists, Iaspis. The program is realized in Helsinki cooperation with Design Museum and Helsinki Design Week, and supported by HIAP / Villa Eläintarha & Connecting Points, the Embassy of Finland in Moscow and the Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg.

We are live! Our first edition of ɬɾąŋʂɠɛŋıƈ ɧƙı invites three residents from Russia, Sweden and Finland, respectively, for the six-week residency and public program in Helsinki, lasting from August 2 through September 19.

The residency award includes accommodation in Helsinki, travel cost coverage, a working grant, a production budget, project mentoring and participation in the public events produced as part of the program.*
* Hygienic protocols are in place for use of all facilities and event production. Should pandemic circumstances disallow the sharing of facilities, or international travel at all, the residency will be organized remotely in full or part.
