From rent and groceries to those little €5 purchases that add up to over €100 by the end of the month😭🙏

Here's a few and simple ways to stay on top of your money

One important thing tho, You don't have to stop enjoying student life! It's all about finding the right balance frfr

Before you can manage your money, you need to know where it's going to exactly

So, keeping track of your regular expenses can help you understand how much you actually need to use every monthđŸ«Ą

Not every expense is equally importantđŸ«©âœŒïž

Learning to separate your needs from your wants can make it easier for you to decide where your money is going first

It's easy to use €5~€10 here and there because it might not seem like a lot at the time... until you add everything up💀

Do you know one of the perks of being a student in Finland? Yess, student discounts!!

Always check if a student price is available before paying the full price since it's not visually announced most of the time

Unexpected expenses will happen at one pointđŸ« đŸ«

Keeping an emergency stash will make those unexpected problems much easier to handle

What about you? What's your favourite way to save money as a student?

Don’t make these mistakes!!Â đŸ‡«đŸ‡ź
If you’re moving to Finland for studies, save yourself from a few of the mistakes I made, from the funny stuff (apartments not coming with light bulbs 😅) to the ones that actually took me a while to learn.
Save this for later, and follow for more.

Who is a Tutor and how to spot them? đŸ€”

For many freshmen tutors are the first point of contact with a new and exciting student life as they introduce themselves in a greeting email and offer their help to a newcomer. But who are these kind volunteers?

Even though tutors are trained to assist new students with all kinds of matters in and outside the university, tutors are not employees, but your peer students, who faced the same as you did just a year or two before! Most often class tutors come from the same field of study, and therefore can share advice you will not get from the office representatives.

Tutors will support you before, during, and after your arrival to HĂ€meenlinna. Before the arrival tutors can advise you on things to pack, accommodation search and getting the keys, as well as other practical matters, some tutors also will be present during the organised pick up day for students. During the introduction days, tutors will be around a lot, leading the groups. On sight they can also help advising on banking, shopping, enrollements, registrations, city and campus life, and Finnish culture, as well as student life. More importantly, tutors will help you get to know your classmates quick with ice breakers and activities and introduce you to the student events.

So, how to spot a tutor in the crowd? In HAMK it’s easy - a blue “TUUTORI” shirt and a smile 😌 Most tutors will also wear their overalls (different colours for different degrees: check out the overalls post on this account to find out more!).

Studying in Finland soon?đŸ‡«đŸ‡źâœˆïž

Starting a new chapter abroad is super exciting (speaking from experience), but there's a lot to remember before you get on the airplane

I've put a pre departure checklist to help you feel more prepared and ready for your trip to Finland. I tend to forget a lot so I don't want anybody to end up in the same boat😭

Save this post so you can check everything off before your trip

If you've already arrived in Finland, what's one thing or things you wish you'd packed or known beforehand?
