አርቲስት ነጻነት ወርቅነህ በቴሌቪዥን ፕሮግራም አቅራቢነት፣ በተዋናይነትና በሌሎች የጥበብ ስራዎቹ በኪነ ጥበቡ ቤተሰብ ዘንድ ይታወቃል።

ሁለገቡ አርቲስት ነጻነት ወርቅነህ ለበርካታ ዓመታት በኢቢኤስ ቴሌቪዥን የሚተላለፈውን የቤተሰብ ጨዋታ ፕሮግራም አዘጋጅና አቅራቢ በመሆን እያገለገለ ነበር።

is working closely with Ministry of Health,Ethiopia , the Ethiopia Public Health Institute and regional health authorities as part of the rapid response to a suspected outbreak of a viral haemorrhagic fever (VHF) in the Southern Ethiopian Region.

WHO has deployed experts to the affected towns, along with medicines and other materials to support care for people in need, and personal protective equipment for health workers.

WHO’s offices in Ethiopia and South Sudan are collaborating closely to prevent potential cross-border transmission. WHO is ready to scale up support, as and when needed.

In 2019, when Ethiopia’s healthcare professionals especially Intern physicians rallied for change, I joined reluctantly—yet passionately—as a leader at Mekelle University. When the strike ended with short-term fixes, I felt we’d failed future generations. But time has granted clarity: that movement planted seeds of hope.

We proved progress is possible. Back then, intern physicians spearheaded the fight for a fair future. Yet, the absence of senior doctors, general practitioners, and allied health workers weakened our collective power. Though we achieved some victories, we couldn’t dismantle the systemic unfairness trapping us.

Furthermore, our profession’s moral and legal obligations—our duty to patients—became chains, exploited by those in power to silence dissent. They punished us for demanding fairness and freedom, knowing we’d hesitate to disrupt care. But silence is no longer an option.

Let me share a story. During the 2019 strike, a friend and I worked as shoe shiners for two hours. We earned 380 birr—far more than our physician salaries. The irony? We weren’t demeaning other workers; we were screaming, “How can those who save lives struggle to afford basic dignity?” Sadly, my friend abandoned medicine and today, he works at pool house.

This isn’t just about doctors. Over six years, we’ve seen the system fail everyone—medical students, nurses, pharmacists, radiographers, specialists, and patients. Healthcare isn’t a luxury; it’s a right. When healers are broken, the nation suffers.

Now is the time to unite. We cannot afford fragmented efforts. To every senior physician, nurse, intern, pharmacist, technician, and healthcare worker: Your voice matters. Your absence in 2019 left gaps no single group could fill. Together, we are unstoppable.
